Hey, just wondering if anybody here uses tonics at all? I eat very well, but sometimes i feel like i need a pick me up. At certain time (wink wink) if you get me. Anybody recommend a good tonic for women?

Do you mean a tonic for women to take, or a tonic for when you are in the company of women?

I read it as a female stating that they felt that they needed a "pick me up" during their period and was looking for recommendations for a good tonic which may help.

I would question whether this advice would not be best dispensed by the OP's GP. Who could run a blood test and check iron levels etc and make a recommendation based on the results.

Well if you think there's an actual problem then go to your GP, but if you're just experiencing normal time of the month problems I'd recommend Evening Primrose Oil. I used to take the higher strength ones from Holland & Barrett. They're mainly vit E so make sure you're not already getting lots of that. It mainly helped me with pain, discomfort, nausea and that sort of stuff. I took Iron and Vit B for a while too, which also helped. The thing is, a time of the month isn't temporary. You get it regularly and so would pretty much take these things indefinitely. I'd REALLY recommend against this. Try them out, see what works for you, and then either try to find a dietary way of giving your body the same stuff, talk to a doctor, or give it up. I think tonics and supplements should be taken for a time, when they're needed, but they shouldn't be used as a long term strategy unless recommended by a doctor.

If it's energy you're having a problem with try Pharmaton. I took it for a while and it did give me a bit of a boost. Again, try not to take it long term. The evening primrose oil helped with energy too, but that might have just been energy gained from not feeling as sick and nauseous as I normally would.
