Found 2 glitchers today on Grid. Those on PS3 can check it out in my recent games. There's only 10 or so, it's the first Grid game, Dom. They were inside the wall of one of the bunkers.

Suffice to say I reported his ass five dozen times or so.. and suffice to say I imagine nowt will be done about it.

But yeah just to warn you all about that.

nah..anything upto 120ms is perfectly gameable..above that though and you will start to see intermittent lag and once you start hitting 200ms above you can expect to get kicked pretty soon :)

I am fed up of migrating to a new host and then the game ending prematurely.

not the games fault it's people leaving the game early, COD's biggest problem-people who can't accept a loss.

If they had dedicated servers then it wouldn't matter.

No, but host migration wouldn't be a problem.

It still is a part of the game that pisses me off. A system should be put in place to punish these people.

    Am I missing something here?
Black Ops has dedicated servers on the pc version..whereas MW2 didn't.

Yes, but the consoles don't have dedicated servers, so they still suffer from the host migration stuff when people can't take a loss.

    Hey what's a glitcher?

    Hey what's a glitcher?

Gamers that exploit glitches in games, for example if you played MW2, the map fuel had a rock that gamers could get into (I think this glitch has been patched, finally)

This can't be right. I've only seen my ping (to a random uk server) go over 120ms on very rare occasions. I'm normally between 40 and 80ms. I have lag/latency problems constantly.

e.g. last night was particularly bad. No matter what game I went into (Blops and MW2) there was horrendous lag. My download/upload/ping were all fine. I had 3 sometimes 4 bars showing.... but people jumping and jerking all over the place. It was like when you are connected to a very bad host. But it was the same in every single game, so had to be on my side. :(

It is the games fault in a way, retarded matchmaking results in completely uneven teams alot of the time. You wouldnt have 6v2 situations if the teams were even in the beginning.

depending what hes talking about but for the p2p **** that console games use 80-150ms would be the average connection, its not too bad because most others will be on the same sort of connection and thus the lag compensation netcode that they use takes alot of that out.

For dedicated PC gaming... i wouldnt join a server with over a 60 ping. You can diffinately notice the difference. Having a high ping usually just means that the server is located in germany or something and you'll be playing against people with 10-30ms.

Your situation sounds strange, some connections are just funny like that and in general just arent very stable.

that's because people can party up in most modes, they have a merc moshpit and merc deathmatch now that have pretty even teams and yet people still leave early when they don't get their killstreaks/start to lose. As Minstrel said above the main problem on the game's part is that they don't punish these people.

I will just say one thing about host migration. For those who find it annoying, if you played COD4.. try and remember what some hosts used to do when losing.

Host migration, while can be tediously frustrating at times, has in the long run drastically improved COD online overall.

You dashboard a game on black-ops you still get the loss , its the immature fools whos k/d is taking a hit that dashboard.

I call bullshít :D only because I'm a pc user and don't care about ye consolers :D
P2P/Host migration was a disaster from day 1 and the worst idea ever.
Playing COD4 on a PC is a fantastic experience compared to the ****e in MW2 and the crappy coding in Black Ops.

yep, that's my connection all right. It's the same for other stuff too. Sometimes I'll run speedtest and everything is fine. Then I try to open a youtube clip and it takes dial up speed to download. Its a very temperamental connection.

I've been patiently waiting for upc to become available in my area. But it's been 4 years and doesn't look like changing any time soon. What pisses me off is that it's been available less than two miles away for years..... but not in my place.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you, I live in the exclusion zone :pac: A few miles any other direction I'd be fine with regards to broadband, UPC or whatever.

UPC is available in my area - just never got around to telling Eircom to go and stuff it just yet. Robbing kunts.

You need to grow a pair an tell eircom its over...

I know you've been through a alot together, a great honeymoon period, love/hate relationship.. but its time to move on. :(

UPC is getting moist at the thought of you giving them a call!! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,428 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

Seen other posts complaining about UPC. I think it depends what area you are in. Likewise with Eircom. I have eircom and it works fine. There's no way I'd change just to save a few bob and then discover your knackered by the new provider.

I used to play MW2 on Clearwire (wireless) Oh dear god just the memory of it makes me feel ill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,516 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

I hate Eircom with a passion...If I get ever the chance to switch to UPC I'm gone..I'm back getting crap pings and slow downloads every bloody night now..
