I'm fairly dumbfounded at reading this article. I know its the Daily Mail and they have a general anti Irish bias but this really was taking it way too far I feel. Its here at the bottom of the page you will have to scroll down a bit.

Indeed there is. Like the European Union's £73.7billion bailout for the failing Irish economy last November, that could end up costing British taxpayers in the region of £6.07bn.

Not many songs about that on Saturday, though, just the usual one about prison ships, prison walls and a terrible famine that took place 160 years ago yet is still thrown in the face of every visitor in an England shirt, as if it was cooked up in the Harlequins dressing room last Tuesday.

Maybe next time Martin Johnson visits he could give a rousing and equally relevant speech before the game based on vengeance for all the little kiddies abused by Ireland's paedophile priests.

Or is it only the English who have entries in the history books of which their modern descendants might be ashamed?

Well all I can add to this is that clearly this man is an absolute tool.

Well all I can add to this is that clearly this man is an absolute tool.

I presume that six billion LOAN from the UK is a first installment as a fair price for the fertile Irish land that was stolen from its owners, and compensation for the economic loss suffered by losing half the population, while food was exported?

There's always been and always will be a huge rivalry between England and Ireland. He's just sore now because his country took a beating this time. If he looks back at what he wrote I would hope that he feels silly.

Are you aware that Trimble is a devout Protestant from Northern Ireland who would consider himself both Irish and British?? The idea that he was being motivated by some form of faux-republican speech making is complete bullsh*t. That would have alienated him.

The 'history' he talks about is a sporting history - we have spent most of the history of the 5/6 nations getting beaten by the English. Since 2004, ireland has the upper hand so it is sweet. It never gets old to beat the English because of events like 2003 when they ran riot on us to win the Grand Slam.

Hatred was probably a poor word to use but with the level of physicality rugby players have to bring onto the pitch these days, they have to generate a level of animosity for the opposition. It's similar to the mentality a boxer might try to get into - it's not easy to hurt people so focussing your aggresion on them helps.

are you serious? its a sporting rivalry and thats what happens in rivalrys its not always about the politics. Alot of these players are team mates on the lions team. Anyway the journo has a cheek to even make those points that we turned it into politics as everytime they play the germans its on the basis of the wars. im sure we have all heard the song two world wars and one world cup aswell as the RAF from england shot one down.

Actually it will cost the british tax payers nothing, they will make a profit in fact, and massive savings considering we are bailing out their banks for them. This bailout is for everyone, but only Ireland will pay. Its hardly out of the kindness of their hearts, 'LOL' :pac:

And their history books are quite deficient with regard to the dark parts of their coloial past.

I really like the english, but I wont listen to that crap, this dick is just a sore loser.

Actually they weren't.They had an IMF drawdown loan (in effect an overdraft) that was enough to pacify the markets about the UK's economy at the time. They never touched the loan as it wasn't needed.

Andrew trimble is from the north, and from the unionist side of things as far as i remember! I dont think he would say something like that anyway, doesnt make sense!

At a time when the British government is introducing massive budgets cuts resulting in huge job losses and cut backs to public services, the government manages to find £6bn to help out the Irish who have done absolutely zilch to cut their budget deficit.

Yep, I'm sure the British tax payer is grateful for that.

Im had cuts to my salary, family members have lost jobs, public services are being cut.... all to save bondholders around europe. We certainly dont love bailing out these wánkbags

This is the third time I've seen Ireland play, I've also seen leinster play a few times as well.

Saturday was the first time I have seen an Irish rugby crowd degenerate to the levels of a football crowd. Most, as you would expect from a rugby crowd were sporting, humerous and welcoming. A good example would be the disdain shown to the stadium announcer making an announcement during an England penalty (that in no way excuses the poor kicking though) There was however a large number of people who wanted to see England lose and were shouting abuse and hatred. I would expect better from a rugby crowd.

Crap article though, mentioning peado priests is just petty mud slinging.
