...Though I suppose FF is in bed with all the Judicary/Barristers/Civil Servants and whatnot who were all making a fortune from the Tribunals. Hmm.
As one that does indeed dislike FF (and remember they were the ones also that helped to curtail how far Bertie and co could be investigated too), the system that they set-up allowed such abuses to go on.
The methods/modes of operation that allow such things to go on, now much need to be totally reviewed and investigated.
The system that FF's departments set-up have designed a system that allows these things to go on - and until such systems are probed and pulled apart, speeded up and certain practises curtailed, just sending one man away (Lowry) in the long run - will change nothing!

Small fry and what happened 14 years ago. When will we get to the bottom of Fianna Fail corruption and what they did between 1997 to 2011.

Telecom Eireann renting a building owned by Ben Dunne for €5m a year, what mega corruption by Lowry. The first move FF made when they got in was to sell Telecom Eireann to the public, reasons being Telecom brought down Haughey in the 1992 phone tapping scandal and their FG friend Mr. Lowry was up to his eyeballs in corruption with the state company.

Denis O'Brien, Ben Dunne and Michael Lowry should have their assets seized by the CAB and all be sent to jail.

Execution would be too good for these scumbags.

Just read the wiki page on this. Jesus christ. So these people were up to their necks in fraud and corruption. our ex government set up a tribunal to achieve nothing but bleed the country dry in doing so amongst other such sh1t. im sick.

Execution is the only thing for these fcukers and many more. Ill gladly take the job of hanging them if ireland takes back execution.

What joke of a country! Nothing will happen any of these gangsters....Dunne was on RTE today blowing his usual s**t. How many time in the past number of years has he been on TV shows like the late late giving his "business" advice, what an insult. ML has been compared to CJH today that must be a great relief to him. CJH screwed money from Brian Lenihan sr fund for his liver operation and STILL Brian lenihen Jr gave one of the readings at his funeral. I often heard that the boys behind bars in mountjoy recon that the biggest criminal collection in the country is in the dail...they are right!

    So true!

There should be all out work strikes to demand justice and a fair ireland. I would love to see our government run the country and fill their pockets with nothing in the exchequer.

There will be no prosecutions out of this

I know you're only referring to historical precedent but one of the main problems in Ireland is that even those who want this situation to change are too quick to adopt this cynical attitude and simply accept it.
    It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
That's why there is no serious criminal investigation into what would seem to be the clear instances of fraud that took place in some Irish banks and into what links certain politicians have/had with those who, perhaps, perpetrated this fraud.
This goes to heart of the blanket-bank guarantee etc, and is the key reason we are in this desperate situation; yet there has been little real public clamour for a proper investigation to take place.
If people really want these things to change, it's about time they started demanding that they do.

Why did it take 14 years for this tribunal? I hope this is the last of these stupid tribunals. In future CAB and proper court cases.

Please i need to protest. i'll head to the streets day and night until something changes in this country.

Sarah Carey's suggestion on Prime Time just now of essentially another Tribunal to look into the Tribunal nearly gave me a hernia

it was a horror of a show..ended by ben dunne saying sure whats wrong with making a few phonecalls..i have done it b4 to get people brain operations and the like...its not what you know joe its who you know..
    this was
said ..without being challenged..and the show ended.

an utter disgrace..and most people were backing him up

I would usually agree with anyone slating Duffy and his show but you are wrong.
The majority of callers stated they did not believe a word Dunne said - I was gobsmacked. there were about 4 who backed him up.

With such a beautifully brassy neck she'd make a fine politician.

Another tribunal that will take 20 fcuking years.

the usa issued a report into 911 within two years.

It was due to finish in 2000 or so but Haugheys helath held it back then the revelations in 2001 of the 50k donation to FG opened a whole new path for it.
Add in Lowry and O Brien's constant objections and obfuscation and you get a 14 year long tribunal

To correct myself, it was Gay Mitchell's suggestion with which she concurred.

People won't stand for any more Tribunals.

People won't stand for any more Tribunals.
The majority of the people wouldn't stand up against FF.
Does anyone really think, they are going to march against another tribunal?
    Seriously?

And sure it isn't a Tribunal, just "a look into" the findings of the Tribunal

Just go on the dole. dont work again. dont co-operate in this country. shop up north and in secondhand shops to avoid paying vat. walk everywhere to avoid paying tax on petrol - except up north - bum a lift up there or thumb.

True. They are going to do a balancing act to find out what the hell was/is going on.
    Find a happy fulcrum point.

Will be interesting to see what comes from this; if anything does.
The DPP may have given an indication that it may move against Fitzpatrick.
If anything happens, will it just be to make Fitzpatrick the scape-goat? Will it just be a slap on the wrist?
    We'll see, i suppose.
