Yeah I know it's called the O2 Arena now or something but it'll always be The Point to me. And AVIVA stadium? Yeah right, shove it up your arse. Lansdowne Road buddy!

The Point is now called the O2 now -

These new branded names are great

If you find someone using the branded name you know straight away they are an easily influenced sell-out and not to take them seriously

They should rename it the Ohtue. It rolls off the tongue keyboard better

The point is the sponsors get their name mentioned every time something happens in said stadium. It's all about the brand recognition.

All the big arenas in the US are brand named, or the majority of them anyway, I loved Ford Field when I was in Detroit, amazing arena:

I read somewhere that Aviva wont even insure the locals because it gets flooded so much.

I call the point the o2 now unfortunately but i wont even entertain the thought of calling Lansdowne Road the Aviva Stadium.

Same here. If people don't go along with it, we might not have any more of this nonsense in the future.

Due to recent developments they're settling on Eurospar.

because everytime there's a match in the Aviva stadium Avivia gets a mention...

    everything there's a concert in the O2, O2 get a mention...

then your going to get a new insurance premium and you see the name Aviva and for some reason you trust it because it sounds like it's good because you always hear it's name...

or you trust O2 when your going for a new phone because you've heard it's name so much...

you mightn't think it but I'd say you've been influenced by advertising many times in your life without you even knowing...

branded venues is just another form of advertising

Everyone will say that they won't change, and will always call venues by the original name, I was the same, but agter doing my thesis on the Landsdowne and now find myself calling it the Aviva.

I will never EVER be an O2 or Aviva customer purely because of this

ata boy - fight the power

and when your favourite band in the world play a free gig in the O2 sponsored by O2 your still not allowed go because your still going to be fighting the power ;)

suppose you don't watch any tv either because there's so many advertisements on it too

Just go see them in some provincial town in the UK instead (usually works out cheaper than seeing them in Dublin anyway).

Good idea. I already do that.

But for every Ford Field there is a Gaylord Entertainment Center.

    I sold out!!

The lure of being able to get pre-sale tickets for gigs in the 02 swayed me........ Bye bye Meteor, hellllllooooooo 02.

The new 02 is far superior to the Point anyway.

I think that place has been de-Gaylorded in recent years, but still.

    Here's some others

    &

(apparently the pro-wrestling events held here are nothing to write home about).
