It seems to be if you trend on Twitter and get lots of YT hits you're considered famous now, all the haters have created a star from nothing.

So she made a **** song. She doesn't deserve anymore criticism than when hundreds of other people are doing worse (Florence and the Machine, Coronas, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Jessie J, Ke$ha, the Black Eyed Peas etc).

How are they hypocrites? You personally dislike Florence and the Machine and The Coronas (I find The Coronas bland too) but you know perfectly well they're not "worse" than Rebecca Black's song. When it comes to music, most of what's good or bad is subjective, but some... is most definitely objective.

I think most people who watch/listen to stuff like this label it a 'guilty pleasure'; which is fitting when it refers to something that you consider of questionable merit that you occasionaly enjoy, for whatever reason.
It kind of loses meaning, though, when the things you use it to refer to are pretty much the only things you watch/listen to.
The moral of the story: don't feel the need to apologise for your taste in things or add a qualifier in order to 'explain yourself'.
Or do, if you feel like it.
