No Religion - I have spiritual believes but don't see what religion box I can tick!

I'd tick the 'Agnostic' box, but definitely not the 'Atheist' box, so where does that leave me with this poll? ;)

There's as much difference between my beliefs and the certain beliefs of an atheist as there is between my beliefs and the certain beliefs of a practising Catholic/Christian. That's sort of the point in being an agnostic! :)

Well you're lucky the census just says "no religion" so!

Alternatively you can just write in whatever the hell you see fit.

Same as I put down last time - Bible believing Christian.

Didn't know these still existed. I thought the current thinking amongst Christians was that the Bible is full of metaphors for life and existence?

Go to a natural history museum. Have some fun.

You ticked an option that wasn't there?

Why? Surely not that "siege mentality" "I'll show the fúckers" thinking, Keith?

And there I was thinking all good Protestants would avoid such tribal thinking and assert their individual conscience....

Who said atheists are certain? Most atheists are agnostic too, its possible to be both.

No Religion - because I am atheist / agnostic
I voted "Catholic eventhough I'm not practising" because you made the Poll public.

    Them apples.

I wonder what you will put down for, How good is your english?

My English is perfect. My sense of justice is better again.

Good stuff, as long as that overbearingly patronising Michael Nugent character and his fellow travellers don't hijack that and claim 'no religion' supports the atheist belief system and agenda.

Do you adhere to any one religion? If no, tick no religion. You can believe in god and still tick ''no religion''.

As far as I'm aware there's a distinct difference between both: an atheist is certain God doesn't exist; an agnostic isn't certain and reckons it cannot be known. This is a distinction I got from a dictionary:

Atheist: a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.

Agnostic: a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as god, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.

If you are going to talk nonsense, at least make up something new. There is no such thing as an atheist belief system.

So an agnostic atheists is someone who understands that god can't be known, and therefore doesn't believe in him.

It's not difficult. Most atheists are agnostics.

Get a better dictionary. Very few atheists claim to be completely certain that god doesn't exist.. Atheism deals with belief, agnosticism deals with knowledge, they are not two points on a linear scale, its more like this.

Read the wikipedia pages on atheism and agnosticism for a better idea of the different types and the actual assertions each position holds.

Im athiest but I will vote "Catholic" because of the obnoxious signatures people have here telling me what to do.

I might not be in the country for the census anyways.

Another religion - I don't practise it but I still feel associated with it. Please state!

Indeed, although one would question what value agnosticism has when you believe the existence of God is only as probable as fairies existing at the back of your garden alá Richard Dawkins. Limited at best.

Rubbish! I'm an atheist and I'm not certain god doesn't exist...I have just never been given a reason to support belief that one exists...from Apollo to Zeus. I lack belief in something until I see some kind of rational reason to support belief in it's existence, much like you and tooth-fairies. Are you denying the existence of the tooth-fairy?

Agnostic Atheist = does not believe in a God but cannot be sure
Agnostic Theist = does believe in a God but cannot be sure
Gnostic Atheist = does not believe in a God and is absolutely certain He/She/It doesn't exist
Gnostic Theist = does believe in a God and is absolutely certain He/She/It does exist

    Simples

On-topic, I will be asking my brother [he's filling ours out] to make me down as No Religion.

    Eh....vote catholic?

Its a census, not an election...

You tick the box that's most accurate to your beliefs (or lack of beliefs). To tick a different box because of what someone said to you on the internet is just stupid, and funny.

There's always a possibility. At least agnostics allow for that.

It can be useful to remind people that atheism, by itself, is a position on believe, not certain knowledge. As demonstrated by the link, very few atheists are gnostic about it.

I like the idea of no religion . You can say that you follow no Church or defined set of beliefs but maintain your own personal beliefs...

If I was to put a religion down based on something made up by a SciFi writer I'd go with Scientology.

Jedi is a real religion. The power to move things with the force does exist. Poltergeist activity supports this.

I'm not talking about agnostics but about "agnostic" atheists alá Dawkins. Personally I wouldn't refer to you or Mark Hamill as agnostics.

Similarly I'm open to the idea that I may be wrong, but I wouldn't call myself an agnostic.
