Wot! No one mentioned "Fox News" yet?
There is hope yet for the world. :D

Edit: Sadly maybe someone has. :(
    Bummer.

Mainly Sky News and Fox News. I use the Irish times website for my token fill of center-left reporting.

No wonder you haven't a clue.

    Bummer.

I know I'm probably committing the boards equivalent of social suicide here, but the "News" part of Fox News isn't all that bad- for an American show that is- and not particularly biased.

I'm off not to commit harakiri. :D

Sadly Fox News has a terrible, terrible name in regarding the truthfulness of many of their stories.
I can't understate how bad their name is in media circles.

For simple example (of which there are thousands to be found on the net):
    * Reporter Tony Snow made many "mistakes" (as he later stated) back in 2001 when he claimed outgoing members of President Clinton's staff trashed the White House.
    * Hannity made the same "mistake" when he showed photos that were suppose to be a huge tea party rally but were from a different event.
    * http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/02/fox-reverses-poll-results-to-portray-public-as-anti-union/
    * O'Reilly made a "mistake" when he ran a video of protests claiming they were from Wisconsin but clearly had palm trees in the background. There are hundreds of examples of just such "mistakes".
    * Fox got caught lying about the crowd at Michele Bachmann's healthcare protest, then it got caught lying about the size of a crowd at Sarah Palin's book-signing.
    * Trying to pass off former Rep. Mark Foley as "D-Fla." at the height of his sex scandal in order to have a go at Democrats!

See here why they cannot operate in Canada (clue: They want the law to be change there that allows lies to be told): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-f-kennedy-jr/fox-news-will-not-be-moving-into-canada-after-all_b_829473.html

When it comes (all too regularly) to honesty for a lot of stories, their reputation is now worldly seen as dire and desperate in quality.

Fox News : The inspiration for the Onion News Network.

I half expect them to report that Obama is muslim, or that he's not even American.

    ...oh wait.

Since getting an iphone im a lot more in touch with ongoing news
RTE, BBC, Sky news are the main ones I check. BBC seems to be the best.

When ever there is major news I use wikipedia, has all the info you could possibly want regarding a news topic

I take everything I read with a big grain of salt. Suppose the Irish Times and Examiner aren't poorly researched at least. The rest can be good as a replacement for toilet paper though. Papers such as the Guardian or the Sindo are merely tabloids masquerading as broadsheets.

Ah, dude, Biggins, you make that great post about why Fox News is crap yet you have Bild listed in what you read! They're the Fox News of Germany!

I know. It helps sometimes to keep an eye on them as I do with Fox, to see how the other side is spinning things.
(Note I include The Welt too, to contrast them)

I read newspapers online - Irish Times, Indo (occasionally), Guardian, Telegraph, Economist, UK Times and a favourite reminder of my travelling days - The Sydney Morning Herald.

TV - RTE News, SKy, BBC, CNN and (though I'm conscious that they take a very particular perspective) Fox.

    CNN usually.

You can't help but become aware of news events while online these days also.

Newsnight / Channel 4 at 7pm / RTE two late news

ocassionally watch foreign satellites, lost all interest in US news channels,
must see if there is a list of when foreign language channels have their half hour news slot

    for older stuff
BBC radio 4 / Fiorsceal / Dispatches etc.

newspapers - The Irish Times , the others are edutainment at best

In the past they used to sneak bad news on busy days - so check if anything slipped under the radar with the Tsunami etc,
another old trick was to release bad news late on Friday, as both Saturday and Sunday papers where done by then and by Monday it's old news
