Ganley on Vincient Browne

Anyone see this tonight? Declan Ganley on TV3 tore lumps out of some FGer and there was a big row. Most entertaining Irish television in quite a while. The Blueshirt accused Ganley of being a "religious fanatic". Ganley gave him an evil "im gonna kill you" look. Thought they were gonna have a fist fight. Very entertaining.

I saw it.
But, judging from other threads i've seen you start on here, i'd guess that your enthusiasm for it is simply as a result of him attacking FG.
He was attacking them because they are simply going to continue along the same route set down by FF/our government for the time being.
I agreed with him, from that point of view.

Top Man Ganley, says it as it is. Even Vincent Browne was wary of getting into a row with him. He got Bill Tormey all hot and bothered, what a clown Tormey is. It saddens me that he is still a politician, he couldn't make a cup of tea without ****ing it up.

Not a fan of Ganley, I didn't see the interview but I can understand the comment. He has a bit of tunnel vision. What's he doing on a politics show anyway? I though he'd retired from politics? Again? How many times is this?

You may well be. I've never heard anything that suggests that he is. If you can provide any kind of proof that backs your claim up, i'd genuinely love to see it.

I heard him on the radio the other day banging on about "pro-life", & how he wouldn't vote for any party that would allow abortion in any circumstance, so I assumed he was religious.

Might be an unfounded assumption, but hey, what's a boy gonna think when they hear that kinda nonsense?

People that didn't vote for change should be ashamed of themselves.
Swapping votes between FF and FG has done nothing for their lot. The scaremongering that has gone on around this election has eclipsed the epic bull**** surrounding the Lisbon treaty.

Really?! I always thought he was an atheist for some reason.

Have to completely ignore everything he says from now on so, ah well.

Well, being 'pro-life', if he is, wouldn't equate with religious fanaticism to me; it's possible to hold that view while being entirely irreligious and he's entirely within his rights to hold that view, if he does.
I'm no supporter of Ganley but have yet to see anyone actually support the constant attacks on him with actual proof that he's as sinister as they make out.

I'd guess he was on there as a commentator because he has previously involved himself in political issues and has run for election in this country.

True. As I said, I just made the assumption, but as I said, I could have been wrong.

And you might be right; even if by happenstance.
I genuinely wasn't disagreeing, per se, with what you stated; i'd geniunely just love to see evidence, for my own edification and to educate myself, from those making attacks on him.

I would have to agree with you - he gets very little media attention & the internet information on him & Veritas is a little vague.

From what I have heard from him though, some I like a lot, some is a bit meh, and the lack of info annoys me somewhat.

I agree with this. Ganley was remarkably restrained when faced with the tirade of nonsense coming from Tormey. Ignorant and arrogant. When he started singing Waltzing Matilda when Ganley was trying to answer a question, he made himself look like a petulant 5 year old. Lucinda Creighton, his party colleague, was embarassed by him and was visibly cringeing, as was I.

How could anyone presume there is religious issues involved just because someone is "pro-life". Its more of a moral issue than a religious one. I'm an agnostic myself, choosing not to marry in the catholic church and when I have children they won't be christened, have communion etc. and I'm pro-life! What an unfounded assumption to make!!

Lucky for Fine Gael Vincent browne put Tormey on when the voting was over. I was sitting there last night cringing at what I had just done in the ballot box. I hope he isnt a sign of things to come from the new government. I felt sorry for "lucy Lou" creighton, she was mortified. No fan of Ganley but he won hands down!

I was watching this online and half way through I lost the live feed as did all boards members who were watching it online,

I tried to watch the rest of it about 10 mins ago but I see TV3 still have not got it up,

so did something happen I am not aware of, I did think at one stage MMA were going to burst through the door to sign both of them up.

The unfortunate thing Bosco is that we saw the way all FG will be reacting inside and some on the outside,

power is the only thing they were looking for, it is the reason parties will drop there policies to form a coalition,

nothing will change till they get economists to do the job on the economy,

let the politicians work on the local issues, let business people who are successful and run large companies run the country.

Poor old Bill Tomney thought it was going to be a bit of a light hearted Friday fun as they usually are, he started off joking and being all jovial. You should have seen his face when Ganley decided to weigh in and burst his ego bubble with some very pertinent points. Also the fuss they all made about Ganley spoiling his ballot really showed the others up for what they are, he stated very clearly why he did what he did and they were shocked that he didn't give anyone a preference. IMO the other panelists showed an awful sense of entitlement thinking they could put any old fart in front of the people and they should vote for them out of civic duty.

I don't like Ganley, he reminds me a lot of McDowell but I agree with him on how the bondholder situation should have been handled and that FG have basically given away the best card we had in the ECB renegotiations by saying bondholders are going to be protected no matter what.
