In my local area all the local farmers, who also work in the ESB, Eircom, An Post and any other (former) govt establishment vote and sometimes canvass for Fine Gael.

Most of them have not the foggiest what their mandate is or even their agri policy. The thing is, their grandfather/relatives was given the land by the creation of the new state and have fooking hoarded it since then. Their old aunt dies and they inherit that also. This gets up my tits, because they have it every way, govt job and 60 acres which they govt from the govt upon creation of free state. Anybody else (like me) who wants to enter has no hope, land is exorbitantly high and all tied up.

Grow a pair of balls and be different for once and vote for somebody who will make a difference, maybe it is genuinely Fine Gael this time, but not every time since the 1920's. Have a bit of self respect and objectivity.

By the way I have no political affiliation at all. I vote for the man/woman who will do the best job for the next 5 years potentially.

People are voting for FG in numbers because they either believe in them or they feel there is no other crediable alternative, (i fall into the later category).

By the way voting for the man/woman who will do the best job for the next 5 years is not worth jack sh!t if they are not in a party of some sorts thats my view anyway.

   I'd say there is a fair bit of generalising there, how do you know who everyone votes for?
6. Harking back to the past shows a fair degree begrudgery.
