What are the regulation governing the mass production of food stuffs, its storage and distribution to consumers and how does this apply to communion host. I have not found anything on line. Does any one know anyone who makes the wafers or know how they are stored in churches.

The priest makes them magically appear at mass with his jesus powers.

The Church is above HSA regulation so they can get away with it.

I used to be an alter boy, they're stored in air-tight containers. The stuff is basically eating paper. What I'd be more worried about is the sharing of the wine, you could pick up a lot of nasties from sharing the one chalice. All the wine is branded with a cross and comes from an approved vineyard...tastes mank.

Thanks for that. A genuine answer!
    Im still wondering if
    (1) HSA regulations apply where the wafers are made.
    (2) If the wearing of gloves and or hair nets apply in the handling and distribution of the wafers
    (3) Is hand washing a factor pefore the priest handles them and pops them directly into the consumers mouth or hands.

Im genuine. Do the regulations apply accross the board or is the church exempt?

Oh BTW. I was an alter boy aswell and the ramshackle Church i served in had mice, mould on the walls and the host was just stored in a box with grease proof paper over it

The priest usually gets them on ebay and throws them into his fancy gold mug before the program begins

    Thinking......... try it!
Seriously. Communion wafers are made en masse and distributed en masse. This is catering and has its risks

    Took all of two minutes

    http://www.lalor.ie/products/new-products/AB900

The church does not produce the hosts, these are manufactured by independent companies who are subjected to the same restrictions as everyone else.

    Feel free to contact..

    http://www.lalor.ie/contact-us

If you want info on some more suppliers..
Suppliers of communion hosts are listed in the Food List.

    http://www.coeliac.ie/gf_living/taking_communion

Handwashing is a factor in distributing communion during services.
