Yeah thats the plan anyway for tomorrow, sob story etc. The office is in Swansea of all places , if i have to travel there to get the passport back/speed up the process, so be it. I'll be honest though, i've already started to look at other marathons.

Worse case scenario do this. Hope you get sorted right pain if you were to miss out.
BTW i am your pacing wingman for the 1.50 in Limerick:), i might get down to run the route beforehand just too check out the route out and do a dummy run seen as it's my first pacing gig.

Fairplay!! Thought you had a duathlon that day?
Should be good craic down there as well. I heard they treat the pacers very weel. 2 night in a hotel and €50 boozing spending money.

I got my dates mixed up. Really looking forward to it as i was very appreciative of pacers who helped me get around when i started out. Should also be good craic!!

Yeah i know it should be ok. Rang them this morning and made a special request for speed, so i'm sending it to him specifically and he'll rush it through. Your man said at most it should be 2 weeks so crisis averted hopefully.

Good to know i have someone else to pace it. Should be interesting, both of us first timers, blind leading the blind haha!

I know the course inside out especially the 2nd half, grew up at mile 23-24 on the marathon route, ran thousands of miles on those roads it should be grand.

Of course, its just that i tried to pace myself to 1'45 in the half last september as a MP run and made a balls of it, using the garmin instead of mile markers, had to throw in a 7'00 to get back on track, hope Amadeus isnt reading this :pac:

Weds 9th Feb, 5 x 1k with 600m jog recovery in between on the triangle near me. Didnt go to the club training session tonight, cause i had to head into the city after work so got out late enough for this. 1.5 mls w/u then the 1k's were; 3'43, 3'46. 3'45, 3'47, 3'39. Excellent running, felt very strong, then half mile w/d. 7 mls in total in 50'23 (7'12). This is the session that went badly when i tried it just before xmas so good to nail it tonight.

10km road race this saturday in finsbury park, thinking about doing it, My pb for this is actually 41'05 for the 10k mark of the DCM in 2007. Never raced one properly. I'm good for sub 39 at least i know.

Thurs 10th Feb, 4 mls recovery/easy in 34'50 (8'43), legs felt surprisingly good given the tough session last night.

Fri 11th Feb, 5 mls in 39'14 (7'51) at lunchtime. Good to run in daylight for a change. Headed up towards finsbury park where the race is on tomorrow, they were putting out the km markers, it looks like 5 x 2km laps, which i wouldnt fancy and it looks a tough course. Might leave it off. The brother is over for the weekend so i may not run again till Monday. I have 7 days in a row done now, which is a new record :)

I use both to be honest. Say its a 3.30 marathon i just run about 7.55 according to the garmin and use the pace band every few miles even to see where you are. Some miles you will lose time on the racing line esp at the start. Its just a matter of slight adjustments. You shouldnt have to do anything to drastic like a 7 min mile:D

Sat 12th Feb, 6.5 mls in 48'30 (7'28) with the bro up to and around Hampstead Heath. Easy pace for him but close to mp for me. Despite it being my 8th day in a row running (new record for me) it wasn't so bad. Now isnt the time to be setting personal records i know. Joints were a little stiff after and maybe a rest day is needed now.

Badly needed rest day today, pains all over, nothing to worry about though.

Weekly Mileage, 32 miles and 6 runs. Good week apart from the lack of an LSR.

Yearly Mileage, 223, which is slightly behind last year. In much better shape this time round though.

Probably gonna do the Kilnaboy 10 on Apr 11th (conn weekend). Got a really cheap flight over and its convenient for shannon. Mallow comes up a bit soon after Barca (3 weeks later) and i want to give a 10 a good lash sooner rather than later. I'll still do Mallow alright, flights are booked, but might take it handy there.

Mon 14th Feb, 6.25 miles in 53'20 (8'30), felt (and went) pretty easy. Went down to Primrose Park and did 3 laps there and back.

Did 4 x 100m strides after, hip joints felt a little off at first but ok after the 2nd stride. 6.5 miles total. 25 mins core and one legged squats after.

No better way to spend valentines day :pac:

Tues 15th Feb, 10 mls in 78'08 (7'49), across to the Lee River in Leyton and back. I could see the olympic park in the distance a mile down the river, looking good. Picked up the pace last 3 mls, felt good.

Weds 16th Feb, 3.5 mls recovery in 29'50 (8'32). Was gonna do a route that had me totally avoiding the Emirates but once i left my flat and saw the spotlights in the sky coming from the stadium there was only gonna be one direction i was running in. Headed right past the stadium and looped back around, great atmosphere around the place. Barca fans singing some catalunya song with the arsenal fans singing "We got cesc fabregas" back at them". One of the easiest runs i've ever done, even though the legs felt like crap all day. Its funny how that happens!

Thurs 17th Feb, 10mls with 6 at tempo pace (target was 6'35). 2 mls easy w/u in 18 mins, then launched into the tempo miles on the mile long triangle. Felt super from the outset tonight, and felt better as the run progressed.

Splits were; 6'37, 6'42 (fell asleep a little on this one, but no garmin), 6'36, 6'34, 6'31, 6'26 . Kept pouring it on the last 2 mls but felt super. By no means exhausted at the end of the fast miles, could have done a few more, 39'26 for the 6 tempo miles (6'34). 2 mls w/d in 18'30. Great run. Sucking diesel at the mo. Total 10 mls in 77 mins.

Gonna do Berlin in Sept, put 2:59:59 down as my target time. With runs like tonights, why not?

Another cracking tempo session there. What is your PMP ?

Why not indeed. With the momentum you have coming into Barca and a summer training cycle ahead it certainly looks on.

Cheers yeah, these tempos get easier and easier, tonights calm conditions helped though.

No idea about pmp, Oisin 11178 and myself may head out at 3'15 pace the first 3/4 then speed up to sub 3'10 pace therafter. Would be good to get a group together, nudge nudge. Seems like a sensible plan. Don't want to stick rigidly to a time goal, although 3'10 is in my mind. It hasnt gone well in the past when i set a pmp.

To be honest i see 2:59:59 flashing in my head..........................................................for the 40km split :pac:

As Richard Keyes used to say, your gonna "smash that" 3.10 i reckon.

Cheers, but i've to break 3'22 first and foremost. PB is the main goal.

The family record is going down in the next few years. Sh*tting in your pants i'd say :p

15/16 mls on sunday, whack out the last few at pmp, whatever that is . No garmin so just gonna do a mapmyrun route and hope for the best, or do the group LSR with the club, 10am though haha.

Hey we were level pegging at Waterford and I'm aiming for 2:58 (just to be sure of it) at Berlin. I'm sure we will both be hanging onto the pacers :)

Oh yeah i remember you from waterford, the only one that passed me for the last 8 mls, revenge mission next time :pac:

Hanging on is right. Will have to see how barca goes and the summer before i'm sure of the sub 3 attempt but thats the plan for now.

We're not running Amsterdam you know, although i seem to remember what the English soccer fans got up to in the 2006 world cup :pac:

Fri 18th Feb, 4mls recovery today in 35'41 (8'55), legs not so bad. Rest day tomorrow. Well earned i think. 16 mile LSR on sunday would give me a 50 mile week, i'd be happy with that.

Sun 20th Feb, 15 ml LSR. Sh*t day today in London, gloomy and drizzly. Plotted an ambitious route on mapmyrun and off i went. Took in Camden, Regent Park, Hyde Park, Green Park, The Mall, Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, then back through Hyde Park and Regents the same way. Did just short of 11 mls as a "warm up" in 1'30'20 (8'20). The Mall was closed to traffic which made running down it awesome given its place in world marathon running.

I then increased the pace, i had the pub where i watched England vs Sweden in the 2006 world cup on Sussex Gardens marked in my head as the time to accelerate, did 30 mins at what felt like low 7's. Mapmyrun tells me i covered 4.2 mls, which gives me a pace of 7'08 for those miles. Pmp for sub 3'10 is 7'14 so thats ok. These miles felt ok i have to say, last mile slightly uphill up the Camden Road, which has a similar elevation profile to Avenguda Parallel in Barca which will help. Missing the garmin but its not affecting my running, i had a few key mile split locations in my head. Total 15 mls in 2'00'20 (8'01) Pretty happy with that one.

Finally practiced using some gels today, used the same isogels i used in Dublin and these seem to work best for me.

Weekly Review, 49 mls over 6 runs. Great week, tempo stands out as the highlight.

Yearly Mileage, 272. Getting the average closer to the 2,000 mile goal.
