I have a few guilty pleasures myself so I'll get the ball rolling.

There last album is just a very good pop album. Pop has been overrun by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc which I find awful but Take That's last album did have some good pop songs on it such as the flood.

In saying that though, I'd never go to a gig of theirs

I don't really get the guilty pleasures thing. If you like something why would you be ashamed to admit it?

And in relation to it. I love a good pop song but Gaga is > Take that in that bracket imo.

I used be ashamed to admit I like Lady Gaga but feck it, I don't care anymore. She has enough talent imo to rank just a regular pleasure now, not a guilty pleasure. Same with Nelly Furtado (her second album is quite good.)

It's really just a phrase rather than something I'd take literally. A 'guilty pleasure' is something from a band or maybe a genre that you'd normally dislike but for some reason this one hits you just right.

I don't think anyone posting here is ashamed of the songs they're posting, why would they post them if they were? It's just a light-hearted look at music you like which would go against the grain of what you normally listen to.

But, hey, maybe that's just me - I tend not to take myself too seriously.

Most of these songs are perfectly good "Guilty Pleasures", but I'm failing to see how any of them are alt/indie.This is one alt/indie track that comes to mind.

On a side note, I love the Violent Femmes first two albums. It's funny that you see them as a guilty pleasure.
