Sometimes I flash boy racers to see if they will slow down! (with my lights that is!)

what do you want me to answer?

about this thread which is about speeding ?

ok since you're being so evasive, I'll phrase it (again) about speeding: why is it ok to warn people about speed traps?

exactly sure when you warn people they are going to slow down, what do the guards want people to slow down or catch as many people as possible and hand them speeding points or worse???

I'm willing to do the crime and pay the fine. It's well worth it. I love speeding down empty bus lanes giving the finger to the law abiding chumps sitting in traffic!!!!

I think it's complete bull to be honest. I noticed a bunch of my friends giving a heads up to their friends on facebook about a speed trap a while back. All I could think was, if they were driving safely in the first place, then they'd have no need to worry.

Don't leave it up to others... install a speed camera detector on your dashboard. I live in the UK and I've seen quite a few taxi drivers with them.

By doing so, you may prevent a nasty accident...

Someone speeding does not mean they are driving dangerously.

As an example, there are many roads that were 60mph(100km/h) before we changed to km that are now 50mph(80km/h).

Are you saying that someone doing 20km/h over the limit on one of these roads is driving dangerously?

Everyone knows plenty of roads with an 80 km/h speed limit that you could quite safely do 120km/h on.

I for one am always glad when I get a warning, speed traps are deterrents to speed, which is exactly what the warning will do too.

Girl: hey, I haven't seen you arround here before, do you come here often?

hondasam: do you come here often?

girl: ...er yes? so... what do you do for a living?

hondasam: that's not what this thread is about, it's about do you come here often.

they so ****ing stupid, the guards go out and set them up in the morning or afternoon and catch people going only a little bit over the speed limit, when they should be out trying to catch boy racers in the middle of the night who are putting themselves and others in danger, or how about they go out and catch some drug dealers, guards are ****ing useless

A significant proportion of road fatalities are in the morning! People rushing to work etc!

IF theres four gardai on each shift in a station do you want the two in the morning and afternoon shifts to ignore traffic offences? or do you want all guards in at night - but what if theres an emergency during the day - wait till they come in for the boy racers at Xpm?

Thanks but I'm not a lesbian so chatting up girls is not my thing.

I do not see any problem warning other drivers to slow down.

serious crime such as rape etc is a different thing.

It's usually suckered to the window though, it has to be able to detect you see!

    They're illegal afaik though.

It's still illegal though. And you'd be hard pressed to say that driving over the speed limit does not increase your chances of being involved in an accident, even if it's only by a fraction.

Warning other drivers is not going to make them become more obedient of the law, getting caught and having points put on their licence will.

    Wrong.

The speed traps are a deterrent because you don't know where they will be, and so keep to the limits.

The flash warning warn you of the speed trap so you can adjust your speed, not get caught, then continue to speed.

And you should see the amount of arseholes that jam on the stoppers when someone flashes. That's the kind of stuff that causes accidents.

The speed traps are a deterrent because you don't know where they will be, and so keep to the limits.

I said speed traps are a deterrent to speed, and you just agreed they are. How am I wrong?

Just because speeding is illegal does not mean some speed limits are too low and driving over these limits is dangerous.

Most modern cars are well capable of travelling at realtively high speeds safely, in the correct environment (e.g. motorways).

In my opinion a lot of accidents blamed on speed have other factors to blame, e.g poor maintenance of tyres and brakes for a start.

I always appreciate it when someone warns me if there's a speed trap ahead.
I'm normally very good at keeping to speed limits but you could easily be doing a few extra mph that could get you caught.
