The Irish are the butt of every joke

I am currently residing in New Zealand and the Scottish lad I live with has a Scouser mate who is going out with a Dublin girl.

The Scottish lad says to me the other day and says "You know that 'insert Dublin girls name here' didnt know that the Irish are thought of as idiots in every joke before she came over here"

I informed him that we are not the butt of our own jokes in Ireland so how would she know.
I didnt defend the Irish or anything because this lad is one of the thickest people I have ever met and I dont argue with idiots. Its not worth it.

The question is, are you aware that we are considered dumbasses and what do you think of it.

I think the same of it what people from New Zealand think about all the sheep shagging jokes and Scots think about all the stingy, stupid, bad teethed, junkie jokes.

i lived abroad for a while and all i got was people being dissapointed that i wasn't an alchoholic.. but most people are idiots and the ones who i had time for didn;t time for my irishness never came up in a negative way

well this person probably has a point. if you look at irish people voting for a corrupt FF for 14 years then yes irish people are idiots and dumbasses. not far from the truth there.
