I see a lot angry posts claiming :they/he should be shot: so who hear would take the job of actually pulling the trigger, tying the rope, pulling the switch, chopping there head off, it would take a lot of courage and strong will to become an executioner who is up for the job,

Ps personally i dont agree with capital punishment so i am out.

I think I could do it in the right circumstances.

It wouldnt bother me as long as i was getting paid. The 1st time would probably be awkward but you would get used to it. Id do it for 25k a year, no weekends and 5 weeks a year holiday.

Yep. I am a psycho Nazi though. It's quite a technical job though. hanging certainly is. Get it wrong and they could twitch at the end of the rope, or have their head come off(as a couple of the Iraqi bungled ones did).

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

    Not me.
This kind of institutional violence is far more disturbing than murder.

Think of all the fame - "Here comes the EXECUTIONER" - AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHH - "I sentence you to, DEATH BY MACHINE GUN"

No, I don't think so. I'd get to the point where I'm just about to swing my axe or whatever and I couldn't go through with it :p

I dont think it would take courage at all tbh. I think it would require detachment.

I've read research where they bang on about how sociopaths make ideal combat soldiers. The average IQ of a common combat soldier is 80. The average IQ of a sociopathic common soldier is 100.

Going off-topic, but my point is that this type of work is best suited for sociopaths - or stupid people when sociopaths aren't available.

Why would you say sociopaths make better soldiers?

I think the head coming off would be a good sign that the execution will take.

I said I would depending on the money but really I wouldn't. I watched the execution of Saddam Hussien and I must say I felt sick, feeling like that for a tyrant means that I couldn't possibly do it.

Better soldiers in combat, they kill without thought, lots of research into killing in war time. I remember one bit of research into people who had killed in WW2 as soldiers, they estimated that only 1% had the ability to kill and kill again while the rest would suffer from guilt.

    I believe I could.
If they've been found guilty of a horrendous crime by a proper jury in a proper court then yeah I'd have no scruples about pulling the switch, trigger or injecting people like John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy or giving the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer what they deserve.
(unfortunately the last was murdered before he made it to the executioner)

Depends. Do I get to munge the corpse afterwards?

What are the job perks? Besides carrying out state sanctioned murder, of course.

No, execution is a barbaric and outdated concept. Also one should not forget the scope for error - many innocent people have gone to the gallows etc in the past that were later found to be innocent.
