I think I would rather take the IMDB ratings than some of the pile of sh1te that is posted here about films

Heat is a film I've always found really difficult to get into - haven't actually managed to watch it fully yet.

that wine one - arsesideways. Just awful.

Didnt get Brokeback Mountain either. Booooring. yes, they're gay, so what?

Or 17 years in Tibet (apart from the bit where yer man takes his shirt of, woke up long enough for that). Slept through Saving Private Ryan.

And I still think they could have cut down Lord of the Rings to roughly 5 minutes - has the ring, loses it, finds it again, the end. Instead of 600 hours of boring fight scenes.

    I'm sure there's more...

+1 for Hurt Locker- shame really, it could've been good but quickly descended into Hollywood cliche

A film that seems to be overwhelmingly despised anyway though.

    I loved it. :pac:

Superbad - So bad I couldn't watch it all the way through. Super bad indeed.

Batman Begins - The train scene is the only good part, the rest is so boring

The Dark Knight - Ditto for its sequel save the last half hour

District 9 - Aliens? A meatphor for real life? Haven't I seen this before?

That was indeed super sh1te but I will say that the bit at the end where the lass is chatting to him and he falls forward and head butts her in the face actually made me nearly choke laughing.

Probably because I spent the previous hour wondering why people thought this crap was so "brilliant" and didn't actually expect a very, very funny bit.

[edit]I note you failed to see it all the way through. I suggest you go to the bit I mentioned above. Classic film moment!

I thought no country For Old Men was a great film!!
Was my type of film to be fair, I'm strange that way.

Recently, everyone is talking about how great The fighter is.
    I though it was shíte.

(Can't wait 'til someone mentions Forresst Gump as a bad film, holy war will ensue :pac: )

Burn after reading. Usually a fan of the Coen brothers and anything with John Malkovich in it, but it was rubbish. Like the editor forgot to put in the last half hour of the film.

I thought that film was hilarious. Laughed my arse off watching it.

Couldn't stand the one after it.. the one about the Jews. It was dismal.

The Coens can be really hit & miss, but when they hit, they hit hard as with "True Grit" - a fabulous film by all accounts. My favourite film of 2010.

    don't drink reds, sorry ;-)

The Coen brothers have been mentioned as well - definitely didnt get the one based on Ulysses (whatever that was called). The accents, holy cow!

Thank you! The Dark Knight annoys the piss out of me. Overlong, disjointed and the start of me being turned off the once amazing Christian Bale and his stupid voice, so much that I wanted to smoosh his face with a pair of Caterpillars. The film seems to be sacrosanct because Heath Ledger died after it (granted, his Joker was brilliant).

"What do you mean you thought Dark Knight was overrated? Heath Ledger was in it."

    or

"I just don't think you understood it. Heath Ledger's acting was brilliant and he died before his time."

What's to understand? Christopher Nolan likes things that go boom and when the only thing you can say for a film is that an actor who died after it was brilliant, you're reaching. A film that makes Maggie Gyllenhal look shite and which just sandwiches the underrated Aaron Eckhart into an underdeveloped Two-Face plot is crap, end of.

    *breathes out*

Jaysus, I've been storing that one up for longer than I realised! :D

Gran Torino (or "gravelly voiced man in a fast car")

My friend had it on DVD before I heard the hype, I now know that it was an illegal copy but at the time I assumed it was some straight-to-dvd film Eastwood had done a few years prior.

Formulaic and obvious plot, average performances from a cast I didn't recognise and a cliché main character.

I didn't like it and I don't get the fuss that I later heard.

This. Harry Brown is far, far superior. Stellar performance from Michael Caine.

You're insane. Don't get me wrong. I love you to bits, but I'm still signing the sectioning forms.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Slumdog Millionaire =****e. Then again I think of the Lord of the Rings in book form or whatever as akin to The Pink Floyd in music. Promises much, but except for one or two highlights overly long pretentious crap wittering on about nothing with nary a tune throughout.*

*The wrinklies are gonna effin kill me for this one. :D

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

    Let the Right One In.......

Got a really good rating on rotten tomatoes, reviews online said it was good.
Why? WHY? did I trust them, watched it for ten minutes and it nearly killed me.

    Twas so boring. :(

I was also recommended to watch The Hangover by at least half a dozen friends (apparently it was comedic gold). Turned out to be absolutely rubbish not one funny moment IMO.

    Barry Lyndon.

I could watch all Kubrick's films over and over but couldn't make it through this.

Yeah but BL is a fine looking movie, plus Bomber from Auf Wiedersehen Pet is in it.

It seems Bomber liked a barney in the 18th century just as much as he did in the 20th.

Great film but you have to give Platoon the credit it deserves. That was never a hyped film like most mentioned. That was just a good film that got huge because it was good. Great even!

I suggest a re-watch, you mustn't have been in a good frame of mind when you saw it first :)

Possibly. Also, had heard so so much about it. Maybe I expected too much.
I can barely remember it now, a sure sign I didn't like it. Will rewatch it!
