Done alot of research on the JerseyX or HoJo and a couple of issues came up can you tell me is there a temperment problem withthese animals as i have contacted alot of farmers that have gone down this road, while none of them said they regretted it i heard storys from cows opening doors, knocking down fences by toppling over the fence posts to vasectomised bulls chasing a quad across a paddock, I have accepted lower values of calves and culls with similar milk solids but without the volume which in turn means less meal to feed out, but as i have young children who help me out on the farm this does concern me and would be enough to put me off the plan. Can anyone shed some light on the HoJo's temperment?

jerseys have a lovely temprement and fresian - jersey cross animals have no temprement issues either , fresian - montbelliarde on the otherh hand

have you got JeX in your herd and what is your experience of the crossbred animal? is it no different to other breeds.
My next big question is what Je bulls would ye recommend for crossing on a Ho herd with little or no Br/fr (fairly extreme type of cow), Progressive has NZ or Danish, is there a difference and are they all suitable for crossbreeding. when selecting jersey bulls what should be the criteria?

    No issues

you keep bringing this up time and time again, have MO and MOX with no problems what so ever

you must have bought or bred SH1T bloodlines , at the end of the day you get what you pay for

never had problem with MOX cows when we were milking. dotes they were.

I worked in Jersey for a summer on a dairy farm with pure breds.
The cows were wee pets to work with but the bulls wicked little hoors!

danish jersey would give you better type , new zealanders place absolutley no emphasis on type , kiwi fresian or jersey cows often have udders like goats , danish jersey are higher in solids although apparently not just as fertile as thier kiwi counterparts

whatever  , its a widely held view that montbelierdes have poor temprements , i got the same stick for daring to mention that salers are wild cattle a while back on another thread , some people take criticism of stock far too personally

Believe me if I felt stock needed to be criticised, I would be the first to do it, I was one of the early breeders of Limousins and and wasn't too popular with a lot of breeders 'cos I made my feelings known.

If anything we find the montys too timid and are often a PITA when cleaning cubicles etc,.
