    So Ladies and Gents

To settle an age old debate. What are your preferences with regard to the teabag, milk, and operation in making said cup of tea?

Do you prefer to pour in the milk first and then the teabag, or does the cuppa taste better if you let the teabag stew for a bit?

Or are you more partial to a herbal tea :D

Milk in last if it's a teabag definitely!

If it's a pot of tea at the Mammy's, then milk first.

Don't use teabags, and always use teapot. So milk in cup before tea in cup. i.e. the correct way.

    1. Cup.
    2. Teabag.
    3. Hot water.
    4. Stir.
    5. Squish the teabag to within an inch of it's life.
    6. Take out teabag.
    7. Tiny drop of milk.
    8. ??????
    9. Profit.

It's not an age old debate.
It was settled many, many years ago.
A scientific study found that only the most predatory of paedophiles and the mentaly ill put the milk in first. Fact!

Who the hell puts a teabag in milk? You'd then have to take the tea bag out, covered in milk..which will then stink up whatever bin it goes into.

    Makes no sense.

If a milk soaked teabag is the smelliest thing to go into your bin, that's very very strange... How bout meat bits, that gone off mandarin in the back of the fridge, fish, etc. etc.?

You can make me a cuppa any day! I always have to make the tea at work cos everyone else puts in too much milk...

I have explained manys the time 'you know when someone says they like a drop of milk so you put in a splosh, then you give another drop for good measure, Ya? Well leave out the extra drop for me please'

They think I'm weird cos I'm so fussy about tea, but it's a win for them cos they always get their tea made for them :)

Seriously, what's with the lack of Atari Jaguar in the poll options lately. AH seems to be growing up. :(

I put the teabag in first and take it out before putting in the milk. I also like my cuppa's colour to look like the skin of a Mexican.

Why do people put milk in tea  And particularly black tea as opposed to other types?

It dilutes the taste and is not nice. If the tea is too hot, then let it cool down a while.

It's really very simple. Find sleeping victim with open mouth. Unzip trousers. Expose scrotum and dip into open mouth while mate takes picture.

Any other way and you're doing it wrong.

The sugar and fat round and enhance the flavour, while taking away the bitter kick. Its not about cooling the tea (well for me anyway).

But its only black teas I'd add milk to I think. It must be reasonably bitter/astringent to deserve the milk treatment.

Teabag in, followed by boiling water then sugar, stir and add milk!

Then get the biscuits out, pref rich tea but not to dunk, oh no, just to practice a couple of 'rounds' for the next soggy biscuit competition :pac:

milk in tea? That's just plain wrong, you'd never see anyone from tea-producing countries doing that & they'd know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 870 ✭✭✭Osgoodisgood

    Milk after teabag of course.
Teapot would be better but milk still goes in last.
But I wouldn't get all squiffy if the right amount of milk went in first by mistake. I can get on board with that.

What I can't accept is calling it a "cuppa"!

I never said it was the smelliest thing. If they were to build up in a bin soaked in milk it would be rotten.

I live on the top floor of a very warm apartment block. The bins go down to the basement. Result? Having to figure out what things stink up the bins the most. Worst offenders - anything with milk, uncleaned egg shells and uncleaned fish containers.

I wash out egg shells, wash fish tin containers and don't put nasty milk soaked teabags in the bin.

    Milk in last....

Sometimes leave the tea bag in for an extra strong cuppa!!!

Sometimes no milk at all & accompanied by many profanities as someone else used that last drop at work.
