Either Ballybunion/Dingle Kerry, Lahinch Clare or Clonakilty Cork

Clonakility has come up twice and I wouldn't classify it as a Seaside town. I assume you are talking about Inchydoney, Courtmacsherry or possibly Ownahincha all great beaches and great for surfing. Clonakility itself is just an ordinary town with some good bars.

Allihes or Eyerise, West Cork - beautiful.

I thought the same. Admittedly Inchydoney is near but it's still a good 4 to 5 miles away from Clonakilty.

If I had the cash I'd buy a nice pad overlooking Kinsale harbour, conveniently located between the Bulman and Spaniard pubs :)

    Bundoran?.... Bun-fucking-doran?

Sorry. I still don't think I read that right... Bundoran?

It's a nice spot; just attracts a fair bit of scummage.
    Rossnowlagh is lovely.

The nicer seaside places in Ireland tend to be small fishing towns and villages.

Roundstone in Connemara in Galway...absolutely beautiful.
    Baltimore in West Cork
    Dunmore East in Waterford
    Mullaghmore in Sligo
    Schull in West Cork
    Dingle in Kerry
    Howth in Dublin
    Glencolumcille in Donegal
    Cushendall in Antrim
    Helens Bay in Down
    Newcastle in Down
    Carlingford in Louth

    Kilrush in Clare

Thats about right - that and Eyerise are not far from the Kerry boarder - both beautiful spots. Ondine (Neil Jordans last film) was filmed all around there, and in Castletownbere.

Don't live beside the beach myself. But if I were to, it'd be Lahinch or Bundoran. Sure the surfin' is only mighty!

Yeah it's only the other 8 months of the year that's the problem

Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo (both on and off season), Whitehead, Co. Antrim or pretty much anywhere in Co. Donegal.

    Cobh is a hole.

    Ah County Clare

Where the council can't figure out if it's Lahinch or Lehinch.
    They have signs for both

Baltimore, Schull, Union Hall in West Cork. Such a beautiful part of the country.

Another vote for that area here.

I'm planning on spending a long weekend with my friends in Schull before the summer. Just need to find a holiday home that'll take four or five lads. We're quiet folk though, get quietly pissed playing boardgames while looking and the picturesque scenery.

All right, all right! I take it back. It's not that great. But I had some good times there, so I'm kinda fond of it.

    Sheesh!

No mention of anywhere in Co. Wexford.

When we were young our parents had a mobile home near Ballyconnigar beach in Blackwater with (literally) miles of sandy beach. Not for the surfer but pleasant walks, fishing, sailing and water-skiing. A few nice pubs and, more recently a hotel, friendly people and only about 20 minutes from Wexford town (good shops and restaurants) and Enniscorthy (Slaney River, 1798 centre and Museum).

Beach is a continuation of beaches sarting at Cahore (south of Courtown) and continuing all the way past Raven Point almost to Wexford town.

Further south, Rosslare, Carne, Kilmore Quay (plenty of fresh fish), Duncannon have their beaches and/or other picturesque scenery and, of course, Hook Head lighthouse and visitor centre (oldest lighthouse in the world I think) Opposite Crookhaven on Waterford side of estuary which is where the expression "By Hook or by Crook" originated.

I don't work for Wexford tourism, just many happy childhood memories.

It's the oldest in Europe & as far as I know, was the last lighthouse in Ireland to be manned (they're all automatic these days).

I have fond memories of that place. The father of a friend of mine was the lighthouse keeper there for years & we used to spend weekends there... manys a night was passed up at the top of the lighthouse, sipping cans & smoking spliffs, watching the beams of light spread out across the sea.

    Magical.

Malahide and Howth in North Dublin are both stunning and fantastic with great bars/cafes and beautiful marinas. They have a great seaside village feel and the city centre is only 20 mins away on the Dart

    Howth.

My dream to own one of those savage houses on the side of the hill looking over the water.

Id vote Malahide for an area to live in purely for the coastal walk between that and Portmarnock, if it wasnt for the (*generalisation*) snobbiness of many residential areas in it.

An Cheathrú Rua, Connemara. Lots of beaches, beautiful scenery and a few shops. No jobs though so I have to stay in Dublin for a while longer though.

Tramore, Co. Waterford, my home for 16yrs now:). Some lovely walks around the cliffs, and Doneraile walk has spectacular views of the sea. Beach is lovely too ,though better when its quiet, personally don't bother with it much during the summer. And can't be doing with the amusement park, but other than that, can't see me ever living anywhere else....

    Enniscrone was pretty cool.
Lahinch is turning into a kip quite quickly.

Just move to Sligo (town) ..under 10 minutes to either Strandhill or Rosses point and about 30 mins to Enniscrone or Bundoran (and less to other beauty spots inbetween)...plus you get to live in a decent size town with all the necessities at hand.

    And yes ...I'm serious :D
