Blue Frog "Red Frog Ale" yesterday :

A good malty/ hoppy beer with more malt than hops to be honest.
Its more a red ale or along those lines than anything else

I got a sweet taste after each mouthful. Carbonation was a little too much for me but in saying that it died down very quickly.

I really like Red Frog, it has a lovely hop buzz to it. Another one for the 5am Saint fans.

Just back from the supermarket, grabbed one of these babies, and 24 of it's younger brother.

First time I have bought cans of weiss, but it was a practical decision.

Can't wait to crack that mini keg open!

i enjoyed it and will get a few more btls.

the headless dog i also enjoyed and found it to be more like an ale.
    will defo get this again.

the btls of Dungarvan and O Haras i got for a tenner i bought in the wine well off license in Dunboyne.

I'm off to visit the Krombacher Brewery in Germany tomorrow(work related), subject to Aer Fungus of course actually bothering to take me there, so invariably I will be drinking..........................

    Krombacher this week. :D

Just drinking a Flying dog doggie style after playing football tonight so hope its not influencing my taste buds.
It's really good and after my first taste I thought it was bitter like a grapefruit taste but then a nice hop hit and not too fizzy either so going down a treat.

Blue Moon on tap in Dublin airport T2. better than the other taps of beer here.

Spicy and creamy kinda taste initially then just fizzy light beer taste.

Not the worst beer but no wherenear the best.

the wine well Dunboyne are sold out of the craft beers.
they just got a small amount and i got the last 3 btls today.

    got O Haras irish red
Clanconnells - weavers gold and McGraths irish black.

i hope they get a lot more in next week.

was also in the Next Door in Clane and picked up a few btls of Lativan
    beer-ALDARIS LUKSUS.
The bloke who works there is Lativan and reckons it is a very good beer.

he plans to import some "live" beers from Lativa in the next few months.
he was telling me that every town and city would have a brewery or two

Camerons Fireside Ale was a great pint to have after coming in from the cold. Hoppy malty and a good hint of chocolate.
The sign said it was from a cask and hardly any carbonation in the pint.
A head formed after being poured but disappeared before getting back to the table.

Wow, I was really impressed by the porterhouse's beers, especially BrainBlasta and the Celebration Stout. Really tasty.
I'm not expecting much from this week's selection of Shepard Neame beers (if their Rudolph's Reward is anything to go by, they'll be pretty bland, but not terrible), I got Amber Ale, Bishop's Finger, Whitstable Bay and Spitfire. I also got some of my regulars, Erdinger Dunkel and Paulaner.

Earlier today I had a pint of O'Hara's stout on draught (Hollands of Bray), which was superb. Really chocolatey.
Now enjoying a bottle of Dogfish 90 minute IPA. Another real taste treat, though at 9%, one to savour.

Brewdog Alpha dog: it's a stout like hoppy beer similar to the Sierra Nevada porter. Really liked it from cask and was a nice change from the bitters I had been tasting earlier.

Where was the Brewdog on tap, if I may ask?

Last night two american craft beers bought in Deveney's Dundrum.

    1. Victory Brewing Hop Devil. Pricey enough, as the guy on the checkout did point out to me. Nearly four euro for a 330ml (I think) bottle. Nevertheless an exceptional syrupy and hoppy offering. Dark body, foamy and biscuity - very pleasant across the board. Just a bit of a sting in the tail on the price, I'm afraid...

    2. Flying dog doggie style classic pale ale. Suffered in comparions with the HopDevil overall, but nice enough. Head vanished without a trace immediately after pouring and a somewhat flatter, almost acid, taste. I don't actually imply that is entirely unwelcome - as pale ales go to me this is was an american product with one foot firmly in the old world of british pale ales. As an aside, the Hunter S. Thompson style wild and wacky labelling doesn't do it for me, I must be getting old but it all felt a bit juvenile and busy. In my grumpier moments I think the same thing in regards to BrewDog and the like. Give me an uncluttered, timless arrangement like Dungarvan Brewing's labels any time.

In London later in the week. I plan more pints of cask ale.:pac:

Brewdog Alphadog was on tap in a pub called THE BEAR AND STAFF, just of Leicester Square,
11, Bear Street, London, WC2H 7AS is the address.

They also had a chocolate stout and Doom bar and about 2-3 other guest ales on tap.

Just tried the Brewdog Toyko* at the weekend. Maybe just my taste buds are unsuited to this, but I couldn't even drink it. Tasted awful to me.

Also had the O'Hara's Curim. Was nice enough I guess, good thirst quencher.

    Beer.jpg

Cherry Flavour Beer. 2.4% Bit mad. Kind of a pinkish purplish colour in the glass so its "for the ladies".

They love their fruit concoctions, don't they? We get the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit over here now and again.

If you liked the cherry flavoured one, you could try Boon Kriek.

I'm not a big fan as I find it a bit sweet but my GF really likes it.

Sounds like a grown-up Willy Wonka style situation.
That would be great if you kept me up to date with any weiss beer news. I am available for taste testing of they need to undertsand the Irish palatte.

A bottle of Black Diamond Steep Trail.

Dark, pours simultaneously molasses-like without being too syrupy. Tan-coloured head that stuck around. Mainly caramel flavours going on, and definitley recommended.

Friend came by with a box of Oranjeboom. I'd never tried it before, so I had a bottle. It's terrible. Not only caused me a hangover, but somehow managed to cause it within 30 minutes of drinking it. I shall be avoiding it from now on.
