Rabbis call for extermination camps for Palestinians.

Some of the nuttier Rabbis in Israel have been at it again...
An article in the Israeli Jewish Orthodox publication "Fountains of Salvation", which purports to be a 'family magazine', suggests that Israel will create death camps for Palestinians in order to wipe them out like Amalek.

The terms Amalek or Amalekites is code for the Palestinians (and other perceived enemies of the Jewish people) and originates in the Old Testament. It amounts to a call for genocideRabbis throughout the ages have allegorized the reference to Amalek to connote any sworn enemy of the Jewish people from Hitler to Barack Obama (some prominent American Orthodox Jews wrote in such terms before the last US election). But this is perhaps the first time any Orthodox publication in Israel has called for the genocide of the Palestinians.

The article attacks Israeli rabbis who dispute the letter recently circulated by pro-settler extremist rabbis which urged that no Israeli Jew should rent apartments or houses to Israeli Palestinians. It chided them for being 'politically correct' and refusing to do their jobs and educate the populace in the true path of Torah.

In the last paragraph of the piece, the attack continues with the following remark, "It will be interesting to see whether they (the politically correct rabbis) leave the assembly of the Amalekites (Palestinians) in extermination camps to others, or whether they will declare that wiping out Amalek is no longer (historically ) relevant. Only time will tell……."

    I hope not.

Rashers are very important to me and I wouldn't like to see anyone joking about them.

The article does point out that these are extremists, and thus not exactly representative of the Israeli population as a whole.

Every society will have its nutters. As long as they're just preaching to each other, no great harm done.

    NTM

And more importantly: rashers or Canadian bacon?

I'm not as big a fan of the rasher as some here...a couple of slices of white pudding is nice too.

Two of the articles are the exact same piece, just repeated, and all of those articles are written by the same person. And in one of the articles he seems to declare himself an "enemy of the Jewish people." In fairness he does say this isn't representative of all Jewish people. Still, I'd prefer to see if Al Jazeera, the NYT/IHT or the Guardian pick it up. They'd put it in a context I'd be more willing to triust.

Or better, since pork isn't kosher to most Israelis and Palestenians, then sell them rashers at knock down prices and call them Kangeroo strips.

Then when rasher eating takes over in a year's time, tell them what rashers really are. Ka-bam!

Like Al Jazeera blaming the Israeli's for putting sharks into the Red Sea :D

I like Al Jazeera, but every now and again they drop a clanger like this.

    Who Palestinians or Israeli's?..

I've eaten more than one Israeli, but never a Palestinian - so can speak with some authority on it :P

There are weird extremist nut cases in every country. We have our Neil Horan whom I think we can safely say is quite a bit nuttier then most. Just looked him up on wikipedia to see what hes up to. I was abroad at the time but was this well known?

During the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Horan was arrested by German police before he could stage a planned protest. He had written to the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and The Kingdom newspaper in County Kerry, Ireland, informing them that he planned to dance a peace jig outside the stadium in Berlin before the World Cup final. He told The Kingdom that he would carry posters declaring that "Adolf Hitler was a good leader who was following the word of Christ", give the Hitler salute, and light a candle for Hitler at the Gestapo Headquarters.[3] He spent two months in custody awaiting trial but was released on September 15, 2006, when the judge discharged the case.[4]

    Always one wee prick.....

Anyhoo, nothing in Haaretz, who are good spotting on the extreme right.

Maybe he got bored marching in front of his mirror in his rubber jackboots and matching codpiece and made it up.

It's probably no different than extremists in America like Coulter calling for america to invade Arab countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.

An honest to god Godwin, that's a rare sight.

And I didn't say I didn't believe him. I just said I'd like to see it put in context by a news organisation I know. And if you read the list of organisations I said I'd like to refer to then I'm hardly looking for some rabid Palestine haters to put it in context.

    .

Well he could be a bearded son of the prophet, but the idea of rubber jacboots and a big shiny swastikaed codpiece is a bit more amusing, I think.
