    hello
hoping some here mite be able to help me with a problem.
i was hoping to use this phone as mp3 players as well, so i went and got 16gb sd card. have about 7gb of music on it but lately when i went to put more music on it the music player says it unable to play this file. windows media player stays the music has syncd. have tried other music players and having the same problem. and this music is form cds and not download if that makes any difference.
    hopefully some can help thanks

Where did you get your 16G card from? Was it ebay perchance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭ccarr

no i got i pete's world of electronic
was thinking of deal extreme but deiced to get one in a shop

That's weird. Did you do the "safely remove this drive" thing? Media player saying it has sync'd doesn't necessarily mean that the files have been successfully written to the disk.

ye safely removed the device some of the music copies but not it all. first i thought it mite be cause the music was putting was all download. but today i got a lend of some cds and i think 90% did't go on. also accidently delete a few songs that i had on it. went to put them back but they would play.

also i should say that the songs go into a folder on the media player called unsure. when you go into the folder all the albumen names are there but no artist names comes unknown. then go into the albumen and when i go to play a song it comes up unable to play this file

That's weird. I'm out of ideas. I did hear that certain 16G cards didn't work in the SF (there's a thread over on modaco...I know I keep slutting modaco, but that's where I get my SF info from) but yours seems to work up to a point.

i have 2.1 bladevillian running on the phone and im very happy with it. Can anyone tell me the pro's for upgrading to 2.2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

I've been looking at android for a while and I'm thinking either a Wildfire or the OSF. Has anyone experienced both? I don't mind the price difference, I just want a good Android that I can use for 2 years as I have with all my previous phones. If the two devices were the same price, which would you buy?

Also, is it true that the OSF only features a TFT screen now, that they have downgraded recent batches from the original OLED? I thought I read that somewhere recently.

    Thanks,
    Jackobyte.

I'm in the middle of installing jellyfish on the phone. it was the apps to sd was the main reason, modaco custom 2.1 didnt have a2sd on it, and it was a choice of baking a rom (and I havent a notion) or picking a froyo which has capabilities of putting apps onto the sd card.

Got one of these bad boys yesterday and I'm very impressed. My first real smartphone and a huge step up from the Nokia 5800 that I've had for the last year. I followed the first post from this thread to unlock it and then installed Clockwork and installed the jellyfish rom. The whole process was pretty straight forward.

I'd never used the command line before but I just followed this guide from modaco and it was easy.

The battery sure goes down quick but I've probably been going a bit mental on wi-fi and downloading apps. The only slight problem that I noticed is that when the phone is charging, the back button lights up. Anyone know if that can be turned off as I'm one of those ppl that is annoyed by any light when trying to sleep and I reckon I'll need to charge this every night.

Otherwise a fantastic phone and I'm becoming a bit addicted to Angry Birds!

right, have jellyfish downloaded, but the contacts are a bit messed up. on sms, the contact picture doesnt display. it does however for a call coming through. any solutions or advise to solve it? handy having a contact picture in the sms threads.

The 'Safely remove hardware' tray thing never worked for me on Windows 7 32bit OR 64bit; neither with my previous N95-8GB nor with my Desire now. It says it's ready to remove but there must be some corruptions on the card as next time I connect the device Windows wants to run an error check.
The way to go is: in Windows Explorer click on 'Computer' where you can see all your drives, right-click on your phone/card, select 'Eject' from the menu, wait for the bubble to appear and disconnect. Works without a hitch for me.

Edit: ccarr, are you sure the CDs you ripped through Windows Media Player were transferred to the device as mp3? I'm not sure Android handles .wma files.

sorted this by moving all the contacts onto the phone and deleting them off the sim card. dont really see mmuch difference in spped or other qualities, seems much the same to be honest. the dialer and browser on the bottom the whole time are good, and moving the apps to sd card.

Is this on the pc ,on the phone when i extract it to the phone or what???
    confused!!!

From a command prompt (at the directory containing these new files!) run 'fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-blade.img' (subsituting 'fastboot-mac' or 'sudo fastboot-linux' as required)

Hi, I posted this quick guide in the thread a while back, have a look and see if it helps.

Chris Lothian's guides are poorly copied and papered over versions of this much more comprehensive guide by Steven Harper on MoDaCo.

I'll be on here for a while and I'll check back if you have more trouble just post again and it looks like Khannie will be along to help too!!

What have you downloaded so far and what OS do you have on your computer.

You should at least have: usb drivers, fastboot, clockwork, md5sum checker

You also need the ROM you want install.

    Sorry, md5sum recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.8-blade.img

    Hyphens rather than underscores!

Depending on where you got clockwork from your md5 may be different so look at the post for their checksum
