Hmmmm I'd already finished the main game and 90% of the quests so I didn't actually try the holo rifle outside of the dlc. Must take a trip to the quarry later so. I didn't have much ammo for it in dead money so kind of forgot about it until the end, and the low ammo capacity was a nightmare when getting swarmed gunning and running to the casino, think I died more times in dead money than I did in the main game, eventually had to turn hardcore off. Was pure suicide even starting with it on.

i started off the dlc with no upgrades for it and hardly any points in energy weapons so it got tucked away in my "to be sold" section . only after i rounded up my energy weapons skill and added on the upgrades when the dlc had finished did i figure out how badass it was . as for ammo i find that when i carry a gun that uses specific ammo like microfusion cells or 50mg ammo the merchants seem to stock up on them

I'd say I am more than 60 hours in and just found out I can't get a Gauss Rifle from the crashed spaceship due to the WW perk.

I think the brother hood might sell em tho?>

Finally got around to playing this ! Gave me a good few days of entertainment !

I decided in the end to

Liberate New Vegas in the name of Ceasers legion !

Was kinda pissed that

when I started doing quests for them they did not give me any Legion armor, instead I had to steal it :I

I loved the dam ,

got help from the crazy bomber guys who just shelled the bridge the whole way through !

On a side note , I

finished all the quests for the brotherhood for Power Armor Training, and went on in the next legion quest to wipe em out ! :O Kinda felt like a dickhead !

you can get a gauss rifle alright the version your thinking of is the YCS/186 Gauss rifle. It has different stats but you can't get it with ww on it's replaced by an alien blaster

How far in are you?

I highly reccommend getting the Gobi Sniper Rifle in an area to the SE of the map from "Sniper's Nest" overlooing Cottonwood Cove.

I can't remember where I got the Vanilla version but falloutwiki will tell you.

Big fan of that one myself, and it looks really cool , kind of snakeskin effect. It's in a 100 locked box though if I recall.

As of patch 1.02, the standard sniper rifle and the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle had both their damages reduced, making them much less effective than they were previously. In addition, the critical chance multiplier has been reduced on both rifles from 5x to a 1x, making it much harder if not impossible to obtain guaranteed critical hits.

Anyone looking for a sniper rifle early on in the game - get the Ratslayer.

I got this gun at level 6, im level 27 now and I still use it for sniping anything except deathclaws, giant radscorpions and one or two others.

The beauty of this weapon is it is silenced, has a night vision scope and it uses 5.56mm rounds.

I have that as well. Savage gun so it is.

As for the death claws in the quarry you can get onto a ledge on the left of the cliff by jumping constantly . It's a little akward to do but with some patience they won't be able to hit you . You'l need a pretty big gun for the alpha male and female they have a pretty high dt and h/p count

I just went up by the Khans camp, attached a double barrell and scope to my laser firle and went mental!!
The Claws did not seem to know that they were being hit, as I was hitting them from so far away with Boone spotting.
Also the location allows you to leave, without having to take them all on.
I was able to take out the

Alpha and Mother

, with out having to take on any others (except for EXP)

i couldnt get them from up there at all

had boone and ede's perks(they where waiting further away nice and safe). are you playing pc or a console because i have settings to max on pc and i can see much further away when im sniping even though there both using the same tv . soon as i moved further down (stealth boy active and sneak 100) and fired they started to come running looking around . spotted me pronto and floored me

I am on PS3.
I was able to pick them off from the ledge below the camp. Then I went to the right of the camp and there is a some machines and a convayer belt. Top of this belt is a large bucket that you can jump into. From here you can see the Claws but they do not register your position.

Pick the rest off from here. I am only on level 16 (or so, never pay attention) and have taken them all out easily enough.

Hmm i've played the game for about 40 hours now, had maybe 2 crashes in all that time, in the last hour it's crashed 3 times on me, getting annoyed

Had a crash last night myself,lost about 2hrs of progress,I should have saved often but like yourself I only ever had about 2 crashes

Everytime i play I will get at least 1crash, on PS3
It is far bloody worse than Fallout 3. Given that it is basically a big mod this is bloody disgraceful. Not unheard of from Bethesda, from what I hear, though
