Why do some people feel the need to respond to posts with rude and derogatory comments such as "what a load of crap, or "what a load of rubbish, is this down to a lack of intelligence in that they cant quite find the words to express how they feel about the subject in hand ? its something that the mods on boards seem to ignore or maybe because it happens so much they just dont notice it anymore. either way when a poster replies with such a response something should be done about it, ignorance is not an excuse if someone were to speak like that to your face what would you do ?

What you've just said... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

Ye, but Tesco putting muck and water in their petrol IS utter crap! ;)

feel free to quote my previous thread, also I never said they put the muck into their petrol, what i said was its full of muck, further more I said claremorris tescos not all tescos in ireland. it amazes me all the people who are experts on the quality of petrol in a petrol station the have never even been to. to put it in simple terms just because you buy an apple in dublin does not mean that same apple in galway will taste the same

The anonymity of the internet allows insecure people to vent frustration. They would be a whole lot more respectful if they were responding in person.

Of course, in real life, you can, with one look, express the utter disdain you feel for some idiot in an overtly non-abusive manner. It is essentially a non-verbal insult or dismissal. In real life, most people respond to stupid people, remarks, comments or arguiments in that way. That option doesnt exist here, which is why people use verbal insults/dismissals instead.

So if I buy an apple here in Dublin, and go to Galway, my apple will taste different?

I know. My quote was a joke!

But just so you're aware, you can expect responses like that on the forum when you make claims such as "it's common knowledge" without any references to articles or actual filed reports etc. Somebody contesting your claim is just as within their rights as you making the claim, particularily in respect of 3rd parties reading both sides of the discussion, albeit it is annoying when it's done in a less than articulate manner I agree.

so your basically saying I have to call round to all my neighbors and ask them to fill out a questionare to prove my point. I cant go go by the fact that I have lived here 10 years and thats common knowledge amongst the locals of claremorris

Sometimes something are what they are, a load of crap or some other superlative.
Posters could come out with other long winded statements but as already mentioned, sometimes its not worth the effort and one has to get straight to the point and call a spade a spade - or a piece of crap just that, a piece of crap!

Be polite to your fellow Users. Instead of "That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard and I can't believe you wrote it." You might try "I disagree, and here is why..." and don't forget those Please and Thanks words that your mother taught you.

    found this in the rules

That's a bit of a snotty tone - what happened to being polite!

Nothing's stopping you saying "people round here reckon". But don't try and push it as fact by saying it's common knowledge, or you risk getting offended by someone contesting your loose fact! Fact is derived from reported evidence, not mass opinion!

Also you don't have to do a questionare no, you could however get the station tested if you really were sure of it...

At Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the Tunneling Electron Microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Superfish, if I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your problem.

    A Frasier classic.:D

    Fine.

The next time I see something bad, instead of saying just "It is crap"
..I was say "I disagree, and here is why... this is crap!"

    Will that suffice for you?
