Letterkenny is a dump. It's a one street town surrounded by retail parks.

Has anyone said The Phoenix park yet? If not:

Outside of Ireland-Cardiff. Sail+Rail €70 return, cheap hotels, great pubs and more craic than you could handle, beer is cheap aswell.

In Ireland,Galway is hard to beat.Always had a great time there.

galway is buzzing every night of the week, westport is very good on weekend nights, carrick on shannon excellent on saturday nights

limerick is just a bigger version of athlone, quite rough, still some lively spots on a saturday night but wouldn't go there ahead of galway no chance

what about waterford?? john street is filled with bars, i thought it was better than anything limerick offers

belfast is cheaper than down here but its not exactly what i would call buzzing in any way at night, The Bridge House (one of those superpubs owned by Wetherspoons) though will make you question our insane food and drink prices down south

blackpool is a great spot for a stag imo if you do decide outside of ireland, prague is dirt cheap

Galway, Kilkenny, Westport. In that order.

I suppose Dublin would be a bit of crack as well, but pay higher prices for everything!

Waterford = sh1thole. Maybe not as bad as some, but did a stag weekend down there three years ago. None of us have been back.

Belfast definitely. A surprising number of people have never been and it's a great city. Great variety of clubs and bars.

    Letterkenny.
Went ther for my mates stag last April for a weekend with 13 other lads. Probably the best weekend ever.

Trust me they did in Letterkenny... we went there 2 yrs ago....nothing to do during the day. pubs were dead... young kids in the 2 discos... we were ripped off by 2 hotels
Nothing to do during the day? You could have went paintballing, go carting, bowling, cinema, ect.

Dead pubs? If you had the stag on the weekend, thats highly unlikely.
During the day, ya drink your head off and some illegal narcotics.
We rented a house out for the weekend that could sleep 12 people. We went to many pubs/bars and they were always packed. Then on to some clubs, also packed with people. Party back in the house. Sleep for 3 hours maybe, were ever ya end up in the house. Breakfast roll for breakfast and back on the drink at 10am. Stay in the house all day drinking and doing other ill sh*t,till evening time. Go for a big steak meal someplace, and then back out on the town for more drinking and partying all night.
What more could ya ask for.

I like Galway but there's a bit of an air of malice around the place anytime I've gone out in it - particularly around Eyer Square and Supermacs . I've noticed a lot more drunken brawls in Galway than ive ever seen on a night out in Dublin.
Why not get the boat to Liverpool OP?

Was at a stag in Cork during the summer, great craic!

It has to be either Borris in Ossory or Sneem.

In my experience, and bearing in mind, I'm from Westport - Westport is one of the better places to go out in Ireland.

Letterkenny is nice enough, but it's not really a stag night buzz. Carrick on Shannon I like simply because it's geared towards going out and having the craic. Kilkenny - been a while since I went there but it can be an asswipe of a place from my experience.

If it's galway, do NOT go there on a weekend - it lacks any sort of buzz at all. Go there on a week night when all the colleges are open and thats when there's craic to be had. Also, Westport - Thursday, Saturday and Sunday are the nights to go. Send me a pm if your coming to Westport and I'll swing a few deals for you.

when i was invited for da stag in limierick i initially thought....wat da fook....but man its absolutly brilliant....got a cheap group rate in Jurys....and we did 2 nights down there.....plenty of hot women....god boozers and great craic in the bars...found the limerick people to be great craic...some good bars on denmark street....eg nancy blakes was full of talent..

op is from athlone so drunken brawls are a norm, galway is very mellow compared to athlone having lived in both for a few years the only trouble in galway is the lack of taxis on a night out in that area you mention, in athlone people just start fighting everywhere come 2am, its chaos

Carlow is good but avoid Limerick at all costs.

Why do you say to aviod it? Just interested and all....

Agree with the poster saying that you'll have trouble getting in anywhere in Cork as a large group, but if yer smart about it and maybe split up ye'll have a banging time. Starting at the end of Oliver Plunkett street and working your way all the way up towards Washington street and thats the main core of pubs and clubs and is a great night out.

Problem is that the strip clubs are on the other side of the river on Leitrim street meaning, when drunk, a 20 minute walk;)

It's not my fault that you're knowledge of Irish towns sucks ass.

I'm not a map. I don't know every single place in Ireland. Could be worse, I could use shocking grammar.

In sligo we booked into the hotel as a handball team.

At the pub, the bouncer thought we were a stag, but we said we were a rugby team - it worked because he recognised a few of us from playing with the Buccs - He played connaught u-20's with one of the lads.

    Good times

    Great town

Yes, Amsterdam is the best city in Europe, but staying at home, I was at a stag in Dingle last year, and I really recommend it. Its a long drive (from Dublin anyway) but its worth it. Dick Mac's Bar for some serious fun. ;)
