AK47 or AK74u?

So whats the best gun to be using?

I've been using the 74 a lot, but I picked up the 47 tonight and I think it might be better. Very fast reloading with the clip add on.

So what do you think?

Also, gameplay and montage wise, would you rather see a lot of the 74 or the 47?

I hate the 74u but at the moment anyway it's 'better' than the 47 in pretty much every way, there's no real advantage to using the 47 except maybe a slight range advantage.

He means the only advantage the 47 has over the 74u is range, apparently. I prefer the 47 w/ extended mags and rds.

I don't know why people put rds on the Ak's, they are the best iron sights in the game.

I've switched recently to the 47 from the 74u and don't see myself goin back. Having way too much fun and great scores with the 47

As someone who has loved the 47 in every other COD game in the past, I for whatever reason didn't take a shine to the BOPS version. Took me 4 prestiges and admittedly putting some proper time into it before liking it.

In saying that, it's quite obvious the 74u is on a different level compared to majority of guns in the game. It's most certainly on the same level as the P90 in COD4 or UMP in MW2. Ok the UMP is on a different level compared to the those guns but you get the point. But imagine stopping power on the 74u :eek:

edit - agree with the above. The iron sights have and always will be perfect on the AK.

double edit - like the UMP, the 74u shouldn't be available fairly early on. P90 it took a good few levels till you finally unlocked it.

74u for objective games , used to use the 47 but there are better a/r then it so use those on the bigger maps.

I prefer the 47, simply because it's an assault rifle - not sure why, but I've always been very fond of Assault Rifles over SMG's (gave up my precious UMP for the ACR back in MW2 :P)

I'd still rather the AUG to the AK though :pac:

I don't know why people put sights on just about any gun (except maybe the semi-auto assault rifles)

AK47 in the right hands I think is the best gun in the game. Absolutely hate the 74u with a passion. Should be the last gun you unlock. Cant stand seeing a lad on 10th prestige with a 74u rapid fire going 30-30 on my team.

I started on the 74u, then 47 but I've recently discovered the AUG. It feels like the 47 from MW2 more than any other gun IMO which was my favourite.

AK47 is the best gun in all COD series for me. The iron sights are perfect and the gun is good at all ranges. Spray and pray with the 47 is not an option like with the 74u. I ALWAYS use silencer with the 47, it seems to make it more accurate.

The 74u is only good for rushing, also i get some bad hit reg sometimes with it on PC version of Bops.

AK74u dominates all. The AK47 sucks in Black ops, i always used it in the other cods but its been replaced with the galil which is probably the best AR in the game followed by the famas and enfield. The AUG sucks! way too weak, if you run into more then 1 person you are ****ed! it looks cool but as a gun its pretty crap... and what the hell is with all the submachine guns in the game?

Oh definitely, but so is the AUG and i reckon 9/10 people agree.

AK47

i quiet like the 74u with dual mag and grip. you get it early enough in the game, and can use it non stop till the aug is unlocked. all you have to do then is flute around with the perks till you prestige again.

Don't think the AK47 is as good in Black Ops as it was in MW2... Ak74u is the SMG of choice.. the simple difference between them is the AK47 will drop someone at distance better, with the 74u is beastly up close... I use that with my "Rusher" class.. silenced so the f*ckers don't hear ya mow down their team-mates....

The AK47 by far. Best gun in the game for me. It has it all. I feel untouchable when I use it. It's a shame all the guns I enjoy using are unlocked at the later levels

Both are class guns, 74u because you can access it so soon into a prestige (level 17) and it can be used with a grip to better it's accuracy and the 47 because it has some very clear iron sights and is just generally very good with most attachments, it's only downside is how late you get it.

I think the guns I've used the most are the ak74u, m16, ak47 and commando and since I use silencers on nearly all my classes I'd vote for the ak47 which has the better range with a silencer. I don't think I've ever gotten a long shot with a (silenced or unsilenced) 74u whilst I'm pretty sure I have with a silenced 47. The speed benefit of a SMG class over a AR class is neglible as you can tailor your setup much more to fine-tune a style of play.

Ak47 for long distance shooting
Ak74u for short distance shooting

They cannot be compared as they are normally used for 2 completely different things. I use both, depending on the map I'm playing.

The amount of time I've been sniped by a ak74u is ridiculous... They are just as good at long range with a grip

they hotfixed the grip so it's not as effective anymore. With the 47, the recoil is straight up and down, really easy to manage, and the iron sights are a beauty.
