Is Irish DTT/Saorview becoming a bit of a "Racket"?

So I can now get RTE2 in HD without any SKY HD box etc?

Pretty sure my HD TV is Irish Digital Ready but I only have it hooked up to a SD NTL (UPC) box.

Eh no. Just connect an aerial up to the TV. Its free to air teleivision, nothing to do with UPC.

Sorry, I understand that was not a relevant piece of information.

Asking my TV to scan now to see if I can find RTE2 HD.

    no luck as of yet.

My TV meets the latest DVB-T and DVB-C standards (as of 2008 though).

What is the TV make and model ? Where are you located ? What aerial are you using ?

It might be best to post the details here - http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056131453 that thread is better suited .

No worries mate I sorted it - after I had unplugged the NTL box from the RF socket I forgot to put in a pair of bunny airs (or coat hanger in my case) and I have it.

Cool, although RTE2 keeps skipping on me (unlike RTE1).

EDIT: Now I see the NTL box works even without the cable going into the RF socket on the TV - not entirely sure what it was for.

Depending on what part of the country that can be used for the analogue channels.

The signal has to go into the set top box, the RF out will (still) carry the analogue channels to a tv (or in my case DVD with hard drive then tv).
