Whats going on, he's got about 8 songs in the top 10 electro house chart, a load in the Dubstep chart too, the tunes are terrible, is the label just buying a load of their own tunes to get exposure or what. It's been like this for the last 2 months!!!

I was told that apparently the owner of beatport also owns a nightclub in the usa, and he gets deadmau5 much cheaper than the norm. there was sumit going on a while back with some law suit. perhaps that's it ?

    http://www.heyreverb.com/2010/12/02/news-soco-club-kingpin-claims-monopoly-in-lawsuit-against-beta-beatport-honcho-alleges-coercion-of-deadmau5-dj-rap-others/

or alternatively ,electro cheese is just getting more popular, and the guys working on the site whose job it is to put the music into the right genres are just asleep at the wheel.

the masses love him, he has a new album, beat port is a cheap place to get mp3's. of course he's gonna hog the top, as will guetta's next. just dont lose sleep over it.

    at least it's not sash!

It's wrecking my head. Went into the Electro House chart there, Feed Me (John Gooch, aka Spor) who is alright but nothing great IMO is pretty much has most positions on the top 10, while the likes of Wolfgang Gartner who IMO is an amazing Electro House producer is only at 7 with "Space Junk", that song should be in top 3 definitely.

It's just a bunch of retards who instantly see Mau5trap as the label and think they must buy. Some of the recent stuff from Mau5trap is alright, I like a fair bit of Michael Woods and Moguais stuff, but the rest doesn't deserve anywhere near the level of success it's getting.

Yep sick of beatports nut hugging, what other sites do people get their tunes from?

One of my mates played me a track riding high in the Beatport charts the other day; some dubstep abortion from some bloke on Deadmau5's label.

It was quite possibly the worst song I've ever heard in my life. Must try to find out the name of it.

A lot of people suspect Mau5trap or whatever it's called of getting people to buy the tracks or using bots or whatever, because every release that comes out gets most of the EP into the top 10. Skrillex's ****e album had like 8 of the top 10 spots. It only takes a few thousands buys to so it wouldn't be hard.

Meh, I very much doubt it. I know a few labels and artists who have done that type of thing.
Deadmau5 is the biggest guy in the world right now. Even when Faxing Berlin dropped, every top ten sales chart on there was awash with mau5 remixes. The beatport market love him and always have. He still has the biggest selling tune on there of all time.

Do you know what? I don't think ever hear a Deadmau5 tune... I'm sure I probably have in the background and in clubs and that but I wouldn't know a Deadmau5 tune if it came on a Radio or in a club. I'll check him out on Youtube when I go home this evening but is he really that bad?

He's good at what he does, but what he does it **** and formulaic.

I'm certain you'd have heard Ghosts 'n' Stuff at some stage.

I think his earlier stuff is pretty inoffensive but the level of success he’s achieved is completely disproportionate to his musical ability (though I guess this isn’t shocking given what tends to top the charts).

    He’s also a complete dickhead.

If you've never heard his stuff before then don't listen to the new tracks first.

Older tracks like Brazil, Arguru and definitely listen to Strobe. Even if people on here don't like deadmau5 in general, I'd say they'd like Strobe.

Well I think he's really talented, and just misunderstood.

In fact, I think I love him.

True, his attempts at dubstep are laughable, and his army of fanboys on Soundcloud are even funnier.

    Yeah I'm the exact same.

Although I actually heard a song on Today FM this morning. Only heard a few seconds of it mind, very poppy, like the Tings Tings? I thought he played real banging trancey type stuff?

Just listening to that now. Yep, I've heard it before alright. Not the worst track in the world, but not really my cup of tea.

Jesus lads I've listened to Faxing Berlin, Strobe and Ghosts and Stuff. The stuff is so inoffensive - why does it rile people so much?

I've seen him live (for shame). He really doesn't have the talent to match the credit he has got.

Plus he went psycho at the audience when a drink cup landed on the stage. Tit

The only thing I'd have to say against that is the Deadmau5 following seems to be mostly from teens and people into all the commercial dance and crap. They'd be the kind of crowd who'd be going straight to limewire to download the lastest Mau5 crap instead of paying actual money for it. Beatport being probably 1 of the top 3 download sites if not the top though, it would certainly draw in the Deadmau5 crowd who don't know any other sites.

Some of his older Prog house stuff I must admit I do like, will always like it as well to be quite honest. Once he started chasing the money going into Electro house and now Dubstep I lost all respect for him as a producer. Like some of his older muisc as said, but I can't stand the guy in terms of a producer. He's turned into the Lady Gaga of the dance music industry IMO.

He only got famous because he wears the Mouse head when djing his tracks all sound the same and are pretty repetitive.
He has merchandise of everything he is more of a brand than a dj.

Why do people get so annoyed when producers change their sound? Is it not part of growing as an artist?

A lot of truth in that.

not true unfortunately. He was absolutely dominating the beatport charts (outselling everyone by a huge amount) when all he had was a myspace with some dodgy photos of himself taken with a camera phone.
Then, the crass commodification started, and the 'brand' was built.

Yeah but selling a load of tracks on Beatport doesn't make you famous. Once the "Brand" was established he became famous.

Probably because he once made a comment about DJs and now everyone on here is against him no matter what the music sounds like
