The penguins haven't died yet in New Zealand, they're just expected to. :( Poor Penguins :(

Apparently it's a big world wide coincidence. Scary. :(

Id imagine that the unusually bad weather over the last month, coupled with unique incidents that possibly wouldve happened anyway, and the fact that fireworks etc would have been used alot in some places for New years and disturbed alot of birds, would account for the majority of the stories.

The fact that its small populations of animals being affected, and not full communities or larger-scale populations would seem to indicate that theres nothing more suspicous behind it!

(this is just based on a quick look at that map and the animals affected)

If you look at it, it has happened all across the globe. In the north where its winter, its understanable in places like UK, Sweden and cold parts of USA.

But how would you explain the southern hemisphere where its summer and the warmer places like Caribbean, Florida and all.

Also fireworks killing over 5000 birds in Arkansas?!

And its many different types of birds and fish being affected all around the globe. Like if its just birds, maybe some sorta avian flu might make sense. But what about the fish then? One place, industrial pollution might make sense, but its in all corners of the world!

The thing is, people probably find loads of dead fish/birds everyday and nothing would be made of it. Now since the Arkansas incident was so widely publicised, people are reporting everything and making it sound worse than it is?

That said, it does all seem a bit weird

The fact the birds dies at night would play a big part in it, birds don't handle darkness to well.

I've often heard that if you block off the light on a caged bird it think it's night time and automatically goes to sleep. I myself have heard birds in trees beside lamp posts sing all night long thinking it's day time. I've often wondered if they tried to fly away from the lamp post would they just fall asleep mid air and now I have my scientific evidence that they would.

I heard millions of insects were killed last week when Christina Aguilera had a shower.

I'm not sure all the birds that died everywhere died at night did they? China is saying it is due to a change in the magnetic field.
Literally birds and fish dying all over the globe...it is Very strange!

Here's a google map image showing where all many animals have suddenly and mysteriously died in the past few days.

    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=201817256339889828327.0004991bca25af104a22b&ll=28.921631%2C5.273438&spn=141.542315%2C12.304687&z=2&iwloc=0004991c2e41cf55affcb

What do you think could be going on? Global warming/climate change? Industrial pollution? or something totally new?
Cuz hundreds and thousands of birds and fish dying all of a sudden is quite a mysterious and weird thing to happen...

Don't forget people, humans are animals too. We could also be effected.

Or maybe there's a new species of bird doing the killings... A killer pigeon perhaps??
    :pac:

tbh, some of those marks say 'scores of dead fish', I think that is clutching at straws, a few dozen dead fish turning up is hardly noteworthy?

^They say hundreds and some say thousands. You don't know how accurate the news reports are and they could be exaggerating.

Birds usually go to sleep at night. When the sky goes down. Although you could argue the city lights are disrupting their sleep cycles.

But it still doesn't make sense. They were fine all alone. Then why suddenly hundreds and thousands of birds fall out of the sky? I don't think there are many incidences in the past of such type. Especially not on such a global scale.

It could be the first signs of a global climate shift of some sorts. The birds and fishes can't handle the changing climate patterns anymore...

Could also maybe have something to do with magnetic pole shifts. Scientists have been saying that the magnetic poles of the earth are shifting. Birds (don't know about fishes) use the earths magnetic field to navigate (don't know about all birds but pigeons definitely do), the shift in the magnetic field could be causing these birds to become disorientated and fall off the sky...

I'm not a scientist so I really can't say much about this.

Regarding the 5,000 birds, here's a quote from the CNN website.

Karen Rowe, an ornithologist for the game and fish commission, said the incident is not that unusual and is often caused by a lightning strike or high-altitude hail.
A strong storm system moved through the state earlier in the day Friday. Officials also speculated that fireworks shot by New Year's revelers in the area might have caused severe stress in the birds.

Blackbirds do not normally fly at night, and it was not immediately clear what caused the odd behavior. Loud noises were reported shortly before the birds began falling, according to the game and fish commission.

^Many birds use the earths magnetic field to navigate. Its like an internal compass they have. I think fishes use this too but I'm not sure about fishes.

Also the magnetic field of earth is caused by the motion of the molten iron core of the planet. Due to the motion of this core, the magnetic field is not the same in all places and the magnetic poles are also not stationary. They have moved in the past and they are moving all the time.

very strange. could be the wheater or even the solar eclipse, some animals use the sun or moon as guides for migration

fish like salmon follow the magnetic pull of the moon.

Well if you want to be accurate, there is no such thing as a fish. Its an artificial taxon.

Apparently the sun's magnetic poles are going to shift soon (as they do every 11/12 years) in 2011/2012. Maybe this is causing some disturbances in the Earth's magnetic field. I wonder if there were any such strange mass animal deaths in between 1999 & 2001 or even 11/12 year before that.

:eek:This is getting serious, reports of 2 million fish dead in Maryland, also mass fish deaths in N.Z, Brazil and wales.
Birds also droping from the sky in Sweden, this is all only happening in the last 6 days, lets see how it pans out in the next few days before we take to the bunkers.

I actually noticed two birds lying on the side of the road with no apparent injuries in Bray last Sunday. They didn't appear to have suffered any trauma whatsoever, they were just lying dead on the edge of the pavement.
