    All rap music is rubbish!

    To the OP,

Calling Lil John 'Hip Hop' was your first mistake. This belittles all the true Hip Hop artists from Kool Herc, Big Daddy Kane and KRS One to Roots Manuva, MF Doom and Mos Def.

Your taste is already compromised fulham fan.... professing a liking for rap would confirm it's absence. :pac:

No, I would agree that the vast majority of rappers and their music are rubbish but I think Eminem and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip are worthy exemptions from the generalisation.

Rap and hip hop, music for idiots (with bad taste).

What's great about hip-hop is how heavily it borrows from the past, while at the same time remaining one of the most forward thinking genres of music, that fact that in one line of text you've dismissed a style of music that spans future, past and present, is shocking.

Without doubt the worst form of music Ive ever heard- barely qualifies as music tbh. Recycled music and hackneyed puerile lyrics

Ive put my hands in the air and tried to wave them like I just don't care but I do care dammit, I do

Catagorising 'Hip-Hop' of what is heard in the charts is not quite accurate. It's a very broad form of music with broad subject matter that does not only revolve around hoes, bitchez, cars, bling and money.

Try explaining that to people who believe that any waveforms not emitted from a stringed instrument do not constitute music.

    Ignorance.

Anyone who is of this mind set will never change, people who liked hip hop back in the day (92-99 ish) and thinks there is no longer any decent hip hop check out Ghostface - Apollo kids. Solid Album.

True. Sometimes it revolves around drugs and killing too. :pac: I like me a bit of the hippity-hop, and am suspicious of anyone who can write-off an entire genre as crap tbh.

    What? No Vangelis synths?

I dunno. The same people who give out about hip hop being all sexism, bling and gansters are the same who would complain about punk being just a bunch of pissed kids.

That is a very broad statement. Some rap music is the best music out there. Nas, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Immortal Technique, Wu Tang Clan, etc. are all fantastic lyricists, some of the best. To dismiss an entire genre when you clearly know nothing about it is just professing your ignorance. Also, saying that everyone who likes a certain kind of music that you don't like are "idiots" with "bad taste" just makes you look like a moron.

To be honest, I think the reason some people write it off without bothering to get to know it is because the either don't like "mainstream" music (even though the best rap music is not mainstream) or they're just rock music elitits who don't like anyone who doesn't deal in guitars. Either way, they're both ridiculous reasons to completely dismiss an entire genre of music without knowing anything about it.

Gotta say I like 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'. Great voice, the album's full of great lyrics, cool music.
As for rap, most chart rap leaves me cold, most of it is macho posturing, there's great rap around though but you don't really get to hear it much.
It's not my thing. Rock and alternative is my thing.
Country music, and especially Irish country offends me more than sh!t rap.

is the chorus and a "Prostitution is the only solution" is a logo at the start of the video. I think it is wrong what these rappers are doing, and this video is very recent.

They are degrading women to an great extent, yet their record companies are giving them more and more money for videos.

EDIT: For some reason the youtube embed isn't working, type in "Lil Jon, Contract" into the youtube engine" and you should see a big man with a blue top on, click on that pic.

The sooner they let you back on the radio, the better.

n if one were to hop in a hip manner, what would that look like.. :o is predominantly for children to help em find their feet and bolster confidence. babywear and bigging up; fronting about first name greatest / last name ever, climbing to the top of 'da game' (capitalist music industry.. lol) basically playing into bigwigs hands for a relatively small cut, they duly keep the cogs turning without the ability to even sing with the ****ing mouth they were born with let alone any actual hands-on musicality. would require one serious sedative to keep with the pace. sure you'd have to be on drugs to enjoy it anyhow; like rave

was a news feature about hip hop being akin to shakespeare recently. some shameless ****wit's claim; not theirs. bless.. its cos theyre so good wiv wordz innit

Why couldn't or wouldn't a talent to rival Shakespeare emerge who now works predominantely in what is now called hip-hop/rap?
It's is simply a form and arm of self-expression like any other.
What you describe, to some degree, in your first paragraph is simply the kind of commodification/commercialisation that occurs across the spectrum of art/self-expression.
It doesn't reflect on or de-legitimise the form itself.
