http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1215/garda.htmlformer garda has been jailed for six weeks for failing to comply with undertakings he gave to the High Court.
Kevin Galvin from Furry Park Road in Killester had said he would convert his properties in Cabra Park and Phibsborough from multi-unit to single dwellings after a fire safety officer deemed them a fire hazard.
He was sacked from An Garda Síochána earlier this year, but has brought High Court proceedings challenging the decision to dismiss him from the force.
Galvin had three properties rented out: 116 Cabra Park, 73 Cabra Park and a unit to the rear of 41 Phibsboro Road.
This is one aspect of Ireland I'm getting sick and tired of. People using the law when it suits them and ignoring it when it don't. Especially those who are independently wealthy and where a short sentence would not kill their career but actually give them a bit of a reputation. His case against dismissal should be thrown out of court because he has shown contempt for the HIGH court. ( it's the high court, not the small claims one )

I hope there is some way to take him to the cleaners over the fire safety aspect. He is renting three properties so he will still have an income regardless of whether he has a criminal conviction or not. At a guess he still has a garda pension. When the six weeks are over he can go back to being a gombeen.

Kevin Galvin, who is in his 30s and lives in Furry Park Road, Killester, north Dublin, was a member of An Garda Síochána working in information technology at Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin.

the IT dept in the Phoenix Park is the dept that all Garda that have fcuked up are placed ;)

There was a fire in house at Cabra Park in the last week and a man died. Nothing to suggest its related but it highlights how important fire regulations should be adhered to.

That Garda was playing with people's lives.

My dog lives in better conditions than that.

Hope his name is smeared all over Ireland...Shame, Shame, Shame.

Your dog has to live in Australia though.

High Court president orders release of ex-Garda
Today however the Judge, after being informed that the premises has now been vacated, said he was satisfied that Mr Galvin had purged his contempt made an order releasing him from jail. Mr Galvin also apologised to the court and said that he would fully comply with any orders made by the court both now and in the future.

Remind me, does 'rowlocks' rhyme with 'bollox'?
