M.T's forecast literally give a time-frame for events to unfold ;)

Its a little like looking at a wrapped Christmas present and not being able to open it until Christmas day :D

    this is a west event!

    Yes, very interesting indeed.

I think the rapid freeze will catch a lot of people out.

Roads on Monday morning were lethal, far worse than the previous two weeks. At the moment the roads are good and wet, so when that lot freezes it'll be stressful driving once again.

For me, driving in the snow is actually less stressful. Its when you can't see the ice that you're constantly on edge no matter how experienced you are driving in adverse conditions.

Yer wanna exclude rooftops in Knocka & Churchfield, they tend to hoover up the snow and it looks fantastic but nothing is ever on the ground.

Especially now as it seems to have turned into a damp squid, but as you say, I think it will too.

There is sleet falling here in Monaghan atm. Had a quick flurry earlier too.

Whoa, first temp drop all morning ~ -0.2°C in the last hour.

Down to 8.6°C ~ so we've a way to go, bit it might, MIGHT be a start.

barro - 1.4hPa as this falls unspectacularly in the last 24hrs to 1015.3 hPa

While posting temp down two more points

The raintoday.co.uk forecast has updated and it looks like that band of rain that's pushing down from the North will more than likely fall as sleet in Dublin at best but as it moves further south it may fall as snow, again depending on the temperature.

    Today

Cold and windy this afternoon with temperatures continuing to fall. Some dry bright spells, but showers also. These will turn wintry in the North and West, with snow in places.
    Tonight

Very cold and icy tonight with occasional snow showers. These most frequent over the north and west, with some drifting possible on high ground. The snow showers will be scattered elsewhere. Lowest temperatures zero to -3 degrees and feeling colder in the brisk northerly wind.

    Tomorrow

Very cold and wintry again tomorrow with further snow showers, mainly over Ulster, Connacht and west Munster, but some dry bright spells too. Later in the day, a band of more persistent snow will reach the West before spreading countrywide. It will be bitterly cold, top temperatures zero to +3 degrees at best, but feeling colder in the fresh northwesterly wind.

Roads are gonna be good and wet :( Caution, caution, caution.

Don't forget we can get updated temps across the country from the NRA website.

Radar borked? The west isn't being relayed hence why the west has no rainfall, which in matter of fact it does.

    Its raining here.

Temperatures here have dropped by about 3 degrees in the last hour and a half. Now down to 3 or 4, depending on which thermometer you look at.
    Showers of rain/sleet.
    Wind has dropped to nothing!!
