Why the hell do RTE put the budget on both RTE1 and 2? Makes no sense! I want to watch cartoons!

If anything, smokes and drink should be increased. They are luxuries, not necessities.

Where are the Four Horsemen? I thought the Apocalypse was going to happen? I thought that Budget was quite fair, to be honest.

Around 40% I think is involved in the pub trade was a figure quoted ages ago.

What were the exact social welfare cuts, didn't hear him mention them, can his full report and cuts be viewed. No reference at all to alcohol and tobacco. I assume no change.

No confirmation on the exact VAT increases I noticed too.

Are the goverment trying to prevent public backlash by not mentioning everything in the budget and leaving it so we have to find out somethings for our selfs?

Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be tbh.

    Everything went better than expected.:)

Love the way the little RTE stats said "no difference on drink or tobacco"
    Not alcohol, but drink.:pac:

    "Gongbeen culture" :pac:
And now they're all pissin themselves..are we the only govt. who does this?

Lowering the minimum wage is a disgrace.
Ireland's minimum wage is far too high. They have lowered it and made them exempt from the new tax net. I think it's more than fair to minimum wage earners!

They'll now be getting 27% of fuck all instead of 2% of fuck all.

Actually think it's starts a 4% for under 10k & goes up on a sliding scale.

DIRT didn't go from 2% to 27%...it went from 25% to 27%...didn't it?

Well that was one very overhyped budget. Much more reasonable than expected. I'm still not staying in this country once I finish college but nonetheless overall I'm impressed with that budget.

Disgraceful indeed. Create a vicious circle there why don't you? Bastards.

Noonan you have a point - I wish FF were waterboarded, then left in the snow to fucking die.

Didn't they already say VAT was going up to 23%, or am I mistaken?

No, they dropped it to 2% this morning without telling us, sorted out their own accounts to suit them,

Now it has gone back up to 27% :D

I'd like to see what FG's actual budget is rather than hearing this bullshít of just disagreeing.

Come on... I'm no FF fan, but standing there going "that's no good" doesn't help.

Your posts tend to be, though.

VAT isn't being increased until 2013 I think. Pretty sure it'll go up by 1% in 2013 and another 1% in 2014, it was part of the 4 year plan.

    OK.

Explain to me why you have to drink and have to smoke. You don't have to, you want to. So, it should be increased, which will likely help us get out of the mess we're in quicker.

Less alcoholic bums around the place too.

    Win win!

But the cost of living is far too high. It's fine to say that minimum wage in Spain or Portugal is only a couple of Euro, when the price of their goods and services are far less than ours!

Again im guessing your living off the minimum wage, possibly with children, and have plenty of money left over after all the bills are paid?
If so then fine, its far too high.
