Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bah, London date is twice the size of the Dublin one.

Debating on going to Beach House tonight but it's the same scenario.

Anyone ever go to the phantomfm music quiz? Its on monthly in the sugar club?

    What's it like?

I've always wanted to go but could never get a team together! I'd say it's good craic! Is it all music or is there other stuff thrown in?

Twee! That's what i want to know too. I was at one years ago (i mean years ago!) but i think that was just a once off quiz and the two petes were asking the questions. Good times.

Edit. Yep it's all music with a cheesy pop round to boot.

@El Pron, i'd suggest crashing the FAP next beers... Don't you know they're one of the most popular forums (girls) in school...

There hasn't been any FAP beers yet! Must get onto that in the new year. We are officially F&A for short, but everyone just says FAP :(

IIRC they had bother with some of the Ladies Lounge get-togethers for similar reasons.

I like the idea of an Altie/Indie Phantom quiz team very much, for the record.

    FAP's a much snappier title!;)

Just listening to it now. The fact I haven't got bored and flicked on to something else (especially in these distracting times) is a good thing.

I went to two Christmas ones a few years ago, good craic. No idea what it's like now. Never won anything neither! I had a vocal acrosssugarclub argument with the MC about one the questions they got had the wrong answer. Looked it up when I got home and turned out they were right ><

Just found out You Say Party! are playing Pravda of all places next month. Sweet. Last.fm never notified me cause they changed their name. Bull****.

Ended up going to that London Beach House date. Their biggest show to date, not a massive fan but enjoyed it all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,026 ✭✭✭homerun_homer

My friend reviewed Beach House in Vicar Street the other night while I shot it for The Fly Magazine - Review is here for anyone interested.

Yeah they changed the name after the drummer died. Ironically to be supported by We Should Be Dead. I have to show face to this gig and miss my Christmas work do.

Yep but for convenience it should always be called Pravda. don't like the new name cause I never remember it. I call it Grand Canal, Grand Central - everything but Grand Social.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭Kid V

Name changing is confusing but effective. Pravda was a bit stale, quite empty most nights i went there. Used to be really good though. Grand Social seems to have taken off. I mostly go there before going somewhere else though.

Back to back gigs next week. Interpol and The National, both in the Olympia. Very very excited to see Interpol again. I've concluded that their latest album is a let down after initially quite liking it. Established bands have it good. I gave that Interpol album far far more chances than i would any bands debut.

Going to the same 2 gigs plus Arcade Fire on Sunday. Can't wait for each of them. Looking forward to Surfer Blood supporting Interpol too. I found the new Pol album a grower. Wasn't sure at first if I was disappointed and it took me a while to shake the feeling and love it fully.

I've had to curtail my gig going over the next while.

So only Menomena, Belle & Sebastian, Caribou and Godspeed for me over the next while.

That's still loads but you should have seen everyone I wanted to go to!

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 9,722 Mod ✭✭✭✭Twee.

Can't wait for B&S. I had bought tickets for my BF for his birthday, but now due to ahem, a change in arrangements, I am taking my mother :D

GodSpeed is sold out :( Must get my Deerhunter tickets soon, I'm sure it'll be a sell out too.

Running out of ideas so suggest me some tunes.

I take it your going to see Menomena across the water?? Wish they'd play here.

Going to Laura Marling, Caribou and Godspeed the week after. Saw AF at Oxegen so i'm fairly content. More broke than content actually.

I only live 30 mins from dub and i'm dreading going to all the gigs this week. Moreso for getting home after. If you're getting a train/bus you should be fine. Just check webites night before and give yourself plenty of time.

I saw them in Brussels on Saturday night - great show, although the crowd were a bit too low-key.

Oh right, you went to Brussels. Their London date tonight is the one I'm on about although it's looking less likely now as I'm broke and got far too much gear with me at the moment to be going straight to a gig.

    :(

Anyone fallen yet? I slipped today at Stephen's Green, but didn't fall as thankfully my head smacked off a wall, stopping my arse going on the ground. Ouch :pac:

Some friends of mine are supposed to be flying over from England for Arcade Fire this weekend. This weather better piss off enough to let that happen, or I'll kick it in the nuts.

Same folks were supposed to come over for the Volcano-cancelled LCD Soundsystem show earlier in the year.

    In conclusion, nature's a jerk.
