Life without headshops.

Its now almost 6 months since the Parents against Headshops got these evil, opportunist businesses closed down.
Now with a generation of young people without drugs, has it made this country a safer place to walk the streets of the villages knowing that a crazed drug fuelled youth will jump out at you and rob your purse?
Or when you are at 8.30am mass on Sunday morning the sound of the choir will be drowned by a fire engine coming to rescue 2 out of their mind youths from the steeple?
It has also probably freed up more space in our A&E wards on Saturday nights as mind bent drug users no longer start fights and are no longer demented from illusions.
Our mental institutions are now not suffering from an influx of thousands of youths and the like trying to get over their last "high".
Employers can now relax as their staff turn up for work without the ill effects of drug taking over the weekend.
Youth and the like also have more money to spend on the important things in life instead of throwing it away to some legalised drug peddeler.
Do you thing Ireland is a better place without headshops.

Drug use has gone up since they closed down, illegal drug use anyway.

There was serious Tax revenue coming in from the headshops at the time. :pac:

Now the streets are still full of the non taxable kind, and the A&E is still in bits.

Much better place man, parents can now let their children and teenagers go to school safe in the knowledge that at lunchtime, instead of heading (pardon the pun) to the local headshop and getting some products which have not been tested,sold by people who only want to make a fast buck, but are totally unqualified and risking their long term health, they just eat their lunch.

These people and their shops mushroomed quickly,proof that they have plenty of ready cash and saw a money making opportunity big time.

Well done for closing them down and ridding the streets of them and the people who use them

Ireland is a cleaner and better place for sure.

37% dont take the drugs that were sold in head shops.
28% have immigrated.
So there you have it 65% of our youth are better off without Headshops.

are you for real? in all honesty I'm not saying it didn't happen in isolated cases, who knows! did you actually observe this happening?? I for one had friends who worked in all three head shops in Galway and they would not sell to underagers!! even had two friends who would actually guard the door at lunchtime to observe the school kids passing the shop, making sure they didn't come in and also to make sure the kids didn't try to get an adult to buy stuff for them!!

now how hard do you think it is for anybody in this country to get drugs from the street?? easier than going to the shop my friend that's how hard!!

since the shops have closed down dealers have been selling a variety of xtc, mostly bzp (which mary "fat Cnut" harney banned in 07 I think!! wow!!!) for between €1.50 to €5/6 or strong real xtc for €10 each if you're lucky enough to find them!! we have bought what turned out to be bzp pills 3/4 times in the past few months and all had a **** night because of it. then again we scored MDMA (pure xtc crystals!!) a couple of times and we all had the best night of our lives!!

there's been no shortage of top quality homegrown weed about as regular as clockwork, so regular that for the first time in my life I'm buying an oz once a month and that means less trips outside for drugs than I had when head shops were open.

had some really nice coke a couple of times too, at €100 a gram it wasn't cheap but them ya do pay for quality!!

all in all nothing has changed!! drugs are still everywhere. weed, hash, xtc and all it's derivitives and substitutes, speed, cocaine and where there is good cocaine there will be people washing it up quite simply and smoking it as crack, LSD, heroin, every type of prescription only drug you can think of that will make you high are all available 24 hours a day from places and people the guards either don't have a clue about or just don't care!!

put that in your pipe and smoke it!!

The thing I found so laughable was that when the head shops shut, because loads of people had developed such a liking to the head shop crap proper illegal drug dealers ended up selling the head shop drugs because of the demand!

So where we were getting at least some tax from it, the head shop drugs are still widely available just not from head shops.

Wait a second, could the head shops closing be the reason we went IMF :eek:

Well, I dunno about the whole "our youths futures are saved, PRAISE!!" but I'm definitely glad that the headshops are gone. Dirty, dirty stuff they were selling which was quite funny to see recreational smokers I know avoid their stuff like the plague.

Durgs aren't exactly hard to get but the untested, chemical-ridden, labelled as incense gunk that was fobbed off was too easy to buy.

Now, Timmy can go off and get that PHD. or become president!! :pac:

The only thing that has changed is that those who were going to be "experimenting" with Headshop things, are now doing so with stronger illegal drugs...

....like the 17 year old who's brain swelled and he died after taking 4 or 5 ecstasy last week or the week before.[RIP]

Well done parents against headshops, good foresight there.
It's like removing a fire-protector grate from a fireplace in case the kid accidentally burned himself on the hot protector.....

The worst bit is - when the banning was proposed and people argued that it doesn't matter if it is banned, kids will still get it anyway, the Pro Banners said "pish posh". But if you confronted them now saying "look - this tragedy is related to the banning you instigated", they'd suddenly whip out the "those kids would have still got the ecstasy anyway" argument.

my friends who worked in the head shops were no more "qualified" than your average street dealer, by and large most street dealers have a personal relationship with most of their clientelle and wouldn't like to hear of anyone coming to any harm (good drug dealers) and I cam tell you now that there are good and bad drug dealers!! nobody was ever offered drugs on tick in the head shops!! nobody was ever given bad advice in the head shops! unlike the government, my mates told people the truth so as to minimise the likely hood of a bad experience.

Mary harneys bull**** about mushrooms, bzp, mephadrone fell on deaf ears with users cos we had all taken them and they really weren't as bad as she made them out to be, surprise surprise haha.

if head shops had been left to sell mushrooms like at the begining then there wouldn't have been a need to get in stock to keep the shop open!

you might think we've turned a corner since the head shops closed but I think you're like another brian lenihen, deluded!!

drugs have been around for a long time and they'll be around for infinity, they'll probably outlive the human race, unless the earth turns into a fireball and not even plant matter survives!!
