Broke the right clamp on my wheel...

Not a good day. I think I'll stick with the joypad, and return the wheel. It was fun, but seems more hassle than it's worth for me. I wish I had the space and patience.

Maybe some time in the future when I don't suck at this, I'll think about getting it again.

Anyone else noticed that in the Italian races in the Special section when it comes to the dirt track race where yea use the Focus RS that it loses most power when ever you stear it

EDIT: Traction control turned off now and it works better !

    What wheel did you have?

Does anyone know some good races to simply build up Credits. Im on level seven and i dont know what to do next. I feel i have to spend all my money to buy a car for one race. Then once i win ill have to buy another car but ill have no money due to the other purchase. Very annoying. Previously you would only have to re-do a race maybe once to build up money but in GT5 you have to do the same races a number of times which is really stupid.

Do the special races. You get much more experience & credits from them

Did anyone order from gamestop.ie? I didn't get my preorder code and I'm just wondering was it supposed to come in the box, in the packaging envelope or through email?

The online gameplay in this game is terrible. Is it just me or is everyone else having problems with it? Also any online races for boards members?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

I haven't bothered with online yet and I wont for a few weeks. This is what I do for any hugely anticipated games.

I tried the other day and every server I tried to join I got booted off. I gave up. I'll look into it when I get bored of the main game.

Annoying thing: Why don't they tell you how many gears a car has before you buy it? I bought a 1967 pontiac that had 320bhp, thought it would fly past the other cars in the classic car cup. Well it did, until I got to a long straight, where they all overtook me because I could leave 4th gear. :(

That's true but I don't think you get multiple credits for them. If you race and win gold and do it again you don't get more credit. I'm not 100% but I'm fairly sure that's the way they work.

Unfortunately the special events are once off payouts - earlier on I thought I could win a few of the intermediate kart races and earn 12,000 credits each time - but no joy. So it is back to racing series by series and then a bit of re-doing some races just to earn money.
But then some of the races are great fun and any mistakes will cost you the win - I am so loving this game.

Yeah i discovered that with the Karting. I wish there was more Karting races in the game because they are such a laugh. By far the most 'Fun' of the game.

What car are people using for the Vitz race? I won a vitz but its too slow.

Get an uprated gearbox, the fully customisable one.

I used the newer one from the dealership but its ****e so I'd recommend the older 1.5 one.

I bought a second hand Yaris RS Turbo 02 - I think you need the power of this to win the Vitz race. But between buying it and re-conditioning the engine and sorting out the body rigidity and an oil change, I lost a packet on this.

I actually noticed that today looking at other cars in a b spec race. Probably the same car you're talking about. It wouldn't go over 100mph:eek: at Monza.

I fcuking love this game but almost every part of the game has something really annoying about it. Can you image just how awesome it would be these were ironed out.

Dont get me fcuking started with this one. I think I won the 1.3 Euro Sport edition and had to spend about 60k on it to win the B-spec race. And what do you get for going to all this trouble?....a fcuking Prius.

I consoled myself by buying a gorgeous second hand 02 Lotus Esprit.:D

I used the one I won. Get all the cheap upgrades. Chip, air filter, cheap exhaust, flywheel. Might be one or 2 more cheap upgrades, but no need to buy a new car.

    Where is the damage?
Is it all in the 133MB patch?

You get cosmetic damage as soon as you begin, though it's only really for Premium cars. Mechanical damage apparently pops up at lv. 20.

I'm guessing you have to turn it on. I was in loads of crashes and there's not a scratch on the cars, never mind dents or parts coming off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Quinntan

It depends on the car you're driving. On Standards it's a texture effect that looks horrific. On Premiums, you'd want to smack it into a wall to really see what it's like. It's hit and miss, to be honest. The Gallardo damages up quite nicely, but the Mustang Mach 1 just looks like it got melted up.

A quick tip: if the used car dealer has nothing you want, go online then go back to the dealer. A new cycle of cars appear.
Haven't checked this myself, just read it on another forum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Quinntan

It cycles every time you enter a race, online or off. It also cycles if you go into a licence test, challenge or anything else like that.

The Logitech GT. Clamps are either not great or I have the strength of an ape.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,195 ✭✭✭Mike Litoris

This is dodgy. I bought a second hand Delorean when it appeared, havent driven it yet. I just won another one in the Bspec classic supercar races.

The second hand one with shltty oil and 1400miles on the clock is shoowing 197hp and the brand new one is showing 191hp. Both have no mods except a sports exhaust which they come with.

Oh, and it wont let me sell either of them.
