I'll stick with it until I unlock the faster cars tho. Although it is fairly boring...

Is it possible to start GT Life over fresh? I made some bad choices on cars and I'm stuck in a rut. :o

No i don't think tha's what he's saying. I havent played 5 yet, but I have played all the others. But what i think the other posters mean is that you are giving out about the fundamental ideas that all Gran Turismo games are based around.

I know what I was going to get as is gameplay. I played prologue. Im mainly complaining about the menus/music/ loading times. I doubt they are the fundamental ideas for GT

I don't think you mentioned music or loading times above
But i think the problems with loading from what i've been reading is that if you don't do the optiional 40mins - 1 hr install at the start, then all the menus, tracks, etc. aill take longer to load up in game as tehy are not installed. Also, being logged into the PS Netwrok seem to be causing a lot of trouble as the servers are getting clogged up, so just log out of PSN. This seems to be the general consensus over the web,

hopefully i'll have the game over the weekend so i can comment more :D

    Uninstall -> Reinstall. :P

Out of interest......what car choices did you make?

I've only played an hour and a half or so, so I've only bought the one (Civiv Type R). Spent a few quid on it to add about 25hp to it to get it to 207hp or thereabouts. Have won 6 or 7 races at the first attempt and around the €30k mark now so will probably be making my second purchase quite soon.

Is it possible to change the steering sensitivity on a dfgt wheel? Really awkward having to spin the wheel around two full turns for tight corners

Game seems good but crash damage is rubbish! Still not as good as toca race driver on the ps 2

I didn't see the used car section when I bought first so I ended up blowing most of my starting credits on a new Nissan March. It's quite ****e. :p

The horsepower was pretty low to begin with and upgrades didn't add much. I then managed to get an AE86 Levin but I'm still stuck with the March because i'll only get 4000 for it if i sell it. I've tried deleting the saved game data to see if that works.

Also I sold one car I won and then realised I need one of those for a race series... FFS! :o

Just did a time trial there where the weather changes and day turns into night. I knew that it was a feature on some tracks but it is done so brilliantly.

That the Vitz? I did the exact same thing. Still a piece of s**t though...

I'm guessing it's the Vitz (Yaris) too. Glad I didn't sell straight away. Raced that once and got mashed, put a bit of money into it and won the 2nd time round.

    Yup, it was the Vitz.

Ok, so attempt numero dos I bought a '98 Civic Type R in the used section. Couple of mods here and there and it's pumping out early 200's in BHP. I came first on 5 races so far in it. No replays.

I think I made a better choice this time. :)

Is anybody else having problems with the online mode in the game? I'm only getting into a race room one out of every three attempts and some times the connection drops in the middle of a race. I'm on Eircom 8mb and have never had trouble with on online game before.

Sony are experiencing massive problems with the online part of GT5. So much so that they've recommended that people disconnect their PS3 from the internet while playing single player because it's even impacting that.

Thanks did'nt realise that. You think they would have everything ironed out before the release.:( Oh well hope they find a fix.

Can you buy a used '01 Audi A4 estate. I really want to buy the car I own now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,740 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

Disconnect from the PSN maybe? That's the solution i seem to be hearing for everything GT5 related.

I'm not online - I plugged the ethernet cable in to download the update and took the cable straight back out before even starting the game up again - it's not got to do with PSN :(

guess I'm gonna have to uninstall and reinstalled :(:(:(

Anyone having trouble doing the last rally in the intermediate set, the one you can with normal tyres?

Bars got to 100% for me and remained for a few minutes until i turned it off thinking it crashed, rebooted the game and its happened again

The old merc around the Nurburgring is fairly nice, could do with a 5th gear in it though.

    Man that sucks.

See what you can pass in the special events section. You get quite a bit of money and experience for passing them with gold.

After that check the races and try to buy a car that will cover 2 or 3 races. Always make sure you check the HP of the opposition at the event. That'll be a guide for what you need.

I feel like I'm pushing a jackhammer around an ice rink with this wheel sometimes. I need to get used it the handling of this game again.

You're probably going too fast into the corners. I was like that first. Also, change the driving style in the main game options menu. I've set it to professional and it's much better than the default.
