Ten years from the last ever series.
Even today when you talk to a stranger and it happens to come into conversation you will feel a connection as you laugh at some of the sayings, scenarios that unfolded in it.

One of you will always mention the milk float episode with Pat Mustard

No but the whole thing of it being three catholic priests off the coast of Clare gives a bit of a hint.

Without a doubt the best Irish comedy. What else was there? Kilnaskutter!

It had Irish writers. Imagine the atrocity it would have been if they'd given it to RTE. Also loved the Blizzard Of Odd, pity it was cancelled :(

True but the producers own the show

And Hattrick Productions is a UK independent production company
And then Channel 4 acquired rights for it

Yeah, most likely the best comedy show of all time.

I remember when it first came out there was a bit of a furore about it being made by a British company & how the Brits would be laughing at us etc..

Still, can anybody name a better comedy show?

Way better than Faulty Towers but Only Fools & Horses gives it a run though...

In before someone claims that RTÉ were too afraid to take it on.

Nah, seriously FT dealt with British eccentricities & hangups in the same way that Fr Ted did with the Irish.

So as an Irish dude, I'd relate more to Fr Ted.

    Fawlty Towers was good though.

Quite the opposite, it put us on the map, remember Frank Kelly telling a story that he was walking in London one day when a real cockney truck ddriver leaned out of his window and shouted Feck off at him :D:D

Fawlty Towers was way better imo

No Irish comedy shows are funny. The UK shows are far superior.

Fawlty Towers, Boosh, Peep Show, Mitchell and Webb Look, Stewart Lee, Black Books, Spaced, Monty Python, Brasseye, Look Around You, Time Trumpet, Garth Merenghis Dark Place, Nathan Barley, etc, etc.

As mentioned in another thread today, what other comedy program used a James Joyce quote.

    Quality or what?
