I've the best butcher in the world, and I'm a raving lunatic for steak.. As unhealthy as it sounds, I eat steak almost daily..

Anyway my butcher, he cuts me the nicest, biggest Desparate Dan (my term) of a T-Bone steak ever.

Once its rare, or medium rare I'm not fussy and will eat it without sides.. Once its left to rest and served on a hot plate I'm good to go.

medium rear, i dont like burnt steak, but i dont like it so rear that a well skilled vet could resuscitate it either. a happy medium i think

I used to get it well done but I always had visions of chefs going :rolleyes::mad::mad: lol
So I tried it medium one day and it was lovely! Not tooooo pink. So I take it medium now.

Sauce + overcooked steaks = fail.

Excess cooking makes the proteins curl up and squeeze out the juices.

Cook it properly and it will be so juicy it needs no accompaniment, although English mustard or horseradish is barely acceptable.

If you want to add sauce, buy a burger.

I think i like mine more rare than medium but i dont think its enough to just say rare. Probably too red to be called medium.

    Medium-rare perhaps??

I like it blue for preference, but I'll eat it rare if that's not possible.

Medium Rare with only a dash of worchester sauce nothing else

I really dont get people putting any kind of sauce on a steak. The taste of the seared meat is completely spolied IMO.

I like a Pittsburgh steak - seared on the very outside, rare throughout. :D

Mmm medium rare for me, I skipped to the shop the day I heard T-bone was back on the shelf. Don't think I could ever go for raw, would feel too canabalistic for me.

On the small occasions I have it I like it done not raw not overcooked just nicely done :D

...............................................................................................Same as for people who pick up the salt and cover their meal in a thin white layer without even tasting to see if it is required or not.

    +1

Used to cover my food with salt before tasting, dated a chef years ago and she taught me different.Could say she taught me to eat properly.(pun intended)

I like it bloody, with juice oozing from every touch.

Healthier too. The more you cook it, the more enzymes you destroy, and the less able you'll be to digest it properly.

And if you order a steak well done, you'll get the worst piece of meat in the kitchen, according to Anthony Bourdain in one of his books.

To quote him... “People who order their meat well-done perform a valuable service for those of us in the business who are cost-conscious: they pay for the privilege of eating our garbage.”

I like mine with a kiss,
    Burnt or rare,
    I couldn't care,
As long as I get my kiss.

I like to order it blue rare - I really like the places that warm it for you even though it is basically raw. Sometimes I'll just order it rare. Blood...mmmmm

Had one last night, medium rare. Pink in the middle with that slight hint of red in the very centre. With chips and chilli sauce for dipping. Yum.

You can really tell if a person is into food by the way they have their steak.
