    If the unions urge civil unrest and it leads to property damage, injury or loss of life, then they should be prosectued.

    Hmmmm think the headline is over the top. They're urging civil disobedience, not rioting in the streets.

    As for the unions I doubt theyll actually be doing the fighting but I thought it unusual to call for civil unrest Its seems a extreme for them

    Well I don't think this illegitimate regime will leave office without it. So they will have to be forced out. They don't have the mandate to govern and have shown contempt for all cirizens of this country and for democracy by refusing to hold the by elections among other things. A sad state of affairs but they will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the ballot box.

    Edit: Not that I'm supporting the self serving unions.

    Depends on their definition of civil unrest. If it means mass protests up and down the country, im all for it. Even though this crisis is constantly in the news, I dont think a good proportion of the public fully realise whats going to happen when the IMF take over.

    An elected Government doesn't become an illegitimate regime just because of opinion poll results.

    Changes and reform we've needed for years? No, they don't realise nor will the self-serving, narrow minded fools the length of the country understand the need for it.

    Would these be the same electricians who caused absolute uproar in St. James hospital when they went on strike because they didn't want security staff to be able to press a button to reset a fire alarm when there clearly was no fire, and depriving their members of 8 hours pay on a Sunday to come into work to turn off the alarm???

    This would be the same unions that have worked hand in glove with Fianna Fail with every National Agreement to raise wages and benefits well above the rate of inflation for years as the countries competitiveness was destroyed?

    The same unions who backed benchmarking?

    and benchmarking 2?

    The same unions who have a representative on the Board of Governors at the Central Bank as they failed to regulate the clearning banks?

    The same unions whos leadership are paid six figure sums for all the above?

    They are not going to be painless. They are going to be very, very painful.

    Painful medicine is better than death.

    They are overdue and we are so caught up in the fantasy land we've been living in for the last 10 years we've lost the run of reality; it's back now, and our distance from it is only going to make the readjustment all the more painful.
