I've had PDS in my ebay saved searches for about 6-8 months now. I've come to the conclusion that if you're smart about it you could probably get it in perfect condition & complete for well under 100 euro. There are great buy it now offers listed all the time. I'd have picked it up a while ago if I hadn't played through it already. (Cheers for that Retr0!)

didn't spot that the box was in french. I've been trying for the Zelda collectors edition for some time now, plus I have a spare Mario Kart to match up for the broken disk supplied. Still french box and all that.

Got an e-reader in the post this morning along with a GC-GBA cable which I've been needing for quite a while now. e-reader came with some Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Game & Watch Manhole and a sealed pack of Donkey Kong Jr. cads which I think I'll keep sealed :P Also just some pics of the other stuffs I got in the last while. Also not pictured but I got some really nice Pokémon heart gold and soul silver and Dragon Quest 9 German promo booklets which are lovely.

Also sorry about the crappy pics. Stupid bad iphone camera :(

Have you managed to finish Orta yet o1s1n?

Nice haul there atavan. Was in the US when the card reader was released and kind of regret never picking one up. Still, I came home with a massive backpak filled with 40-50 games anyway, was just around the time the PS1 was being phased out and the second hand shops still had great PS1 selections :)

Feckin Orta, keep getting killed in some forest area, damn big fecker popping out all around, throwing death in my direction, then I get the game over screen, ahh!
Now, that was the story the last time I fired it up, perhaps I should have another go, now my gaming prowess has had time to "mature".

    Ok.

You can stop laughing now... :(

Aye he can be a baptism of fire but you'll just have to learn his pattern to beat him. Took me a fair few goes but once you get his pattern like everything else in the game he is easy. For beginners using the glide wings super attack is recommended because it gives some health back. Concentrate on the enemies bullets rather than doing damage, the glide wing is best for this and also learn when to boost when the boss tries to charge you. Orta's pretty old school so you should expect a challenge. You could play on Easy but you'll beat the game in about 2 hours and miss out on what the game offers most, excellent well designed challenge.

Just to keep the obsession going, here's two more of the vector graphic displaying lovelies!

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Retro-Vectrex-Console-Mine-Storm-Game-MB-/150520272462?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item230bb5164e#ht_706wt_932

Personally, I'd go for the first one, you don't really need a load of games and overlays, although they are cool.
A VecFlash/VecMulti is all you need, and the console itself, by the look of it could be got for a song, once the postage of €29.99 can be replicated in every Vectrex auction.
    Happy trails!

Thanks :) It's pretty cool even if it is fairly bulky. You wouldn't be taking it out with you if you know what I mean. I'm currently trying to track down the Eon ticket for Pokémon ruby & sapphire. Was only given away at E3 and in an issue of Nintendo power. Speaking of which I found a nice little lot of cards including it on ebay.com. Does anyone know what the story is re buying things of ebay.com as opposed to ebay.ie?

Orta is brilliant. I haven't finished it yet, no. Only a few levels in. Last time I played it, I got up to a statue type boss thing?

One annoying thing about it, well, more my Xbox - it won't save! I have to keep starting it from the beginning. I think that was the reason I stopped playing it actually.

Someone buy the first Vectrex! Lets make it five :)

Is it one of the chosen few that work on the 360?
Or do I have to fire up the Xbox instead?
    Must nip off and see.

It's meant to work, but the PAL version crashes for some reason after level 4. It's the reason I picked up an original xbox again. Microsoft never fixed it.

Is it wrong that I want one of these? Not like the Vectrex would ever be in it though :D

No difference whatsoever as regard bidding, just log in and bid away. Sellers are usually US or international etc. :)

Seen a few of them listed, usually v expensive though.

Battle Kid arrived this morning. Clear sleave and see through cart. Crappy camera wouldn't take any decent pics of the manual contents. Lists all the objects/enemies/bosses etc with nice colour pics. Very well done for a homebrew game I thought.

    battlekid1.jpg

Game wouldn't load initially, picture kept flicking on and off same with the power light. Knew it wasn't the NES itself as other carts were fine and had done the 72pin change long ago. Took the plunge and carried out that region unlock mod and the game works a treat now. Supposedly inspired by a game called "I Wanna Be the Guy", never played that but it reminds me of a cross between Megaman and Super Meat Boy. You die an awful lot. :pac:

Yeah the seller only has US and Canada listed for shipping so I might just shoot them an email and see will they post to here :)

If you use ebay.com it will show auctions that state 'US only' and will display in dollars. Every other region specific ebay does the same thing (ebay.co.uk ebay.ie ebay.de ebay.es ebay.com.aus etc)

You should check them as if it states 'UK only' or 'US only' etc it wont display on the other sites and you'll miss the auctions.

Nice game Andrew! Looks good for homebrew alright.

Aye do, most of the time they will. Just make sure you can actually bid on the item. I know I've mentioned it a few times before but sometimes if they don't specify international postage etc ebay will actually block you from placing a bid. So if it's something you want and bidding is early just place the min bid to make sure you actually can, else get onto the seller. :)

    Here's the auction.

I can't see it saying US only but it doesn't show up on ebay.ie. I don't want to wait and bid at the last minute only for it to say I can't! Could anyone confirm this or should I just lash in a low bid now and see what it says?

Statue Boss is Stage 4 of 8. Also he's only part 1 of that boss, there's a really tough boss after him. Weird that it doesn't save. It will be much tougher trying to beat it with without saving. Maybe your HD is knackered?
After stage 4 is when the story gets interesting but only if you've played Saga.

Ok I just bid $0.06 and it let me enter it fine. Was promptly outbid, at 11cent now. :pac: You should be fine to bid away so. Email him asking for postage costs though.

Damn you driving up the prices of my auctions! :pac:

Ah cheers for that. Sent him an email anyway about postage so we'll see what happens!

Got Marble Madness for the NES for £1.70 on eBay today. Can't remember if it's a good game, just remember a friend having it.

Marble Madness, can't remember if it's a good game?
Have this man shot and his game collection given to someone more deserving!

Only kidding, I love this game, hate the black marbles though, little gits, knocking you off the level, feckers!

Back in the day when games cost a year's pocket money I had the choice between Marble Madness and Time Lord. I chose Time Lord. Now I have both :D

My Vecmulti came and I haven't got the foggiest idea how to get it working.

You have to open the cart up to put the micro sd card in. I've tried putting games in the root directory - didn't work. Then tried games in a 'roms' directory - didn't work.

Any ideas? Trying to see if there's something else that should be on the micro sd card (like firmware maybe?) but not turning up any results.

Is it a standard micro sd, and not an sdhc card you have? I've no idea at all, but for cost sake I'd say he opted not to bother with sdhc support given the size of the romset.

Also are they rar/zipped or raw?

    It's a 1gb micro SD. So it's not SDHC.

All the files are in the root as .bin. They're not compressed or anything.
