Congrats on your new arrival, I wonder if Hallmark have a "Wishing you all the best with your new Vectrex" card, they really should, if they don't!

    Thank Christ!

Lol I was just thinking that, although mine was wrapped in about a square mile of Amazon goodness so that helps. Al in all though, they must be hardy little dudes, I'd like to see a 360 or PS3 working in 25 years time  (25 minutes more like).

It can't be as eventful as the crazy anglo-dutch journey mine took. If Vec fest ever happens, mine & yours can exchange stories of their trips to us :pac:

Wait a minute, Dutch? You sent a big black box with an obsolite piece of technology through Dutch airports/customs and wonder why it took so long to be delivered? :pac:

It landed in Portlaoise only yesterday according to the tracking number, so it was def a hold up on the part of the Dutch. Package hadn't been opened by the looks of it, it was too well packed. I'd love to know why it was sitting in customs somewhere for over a week but not inspected.

TNT tracking info reckons it's not even dispatched yet

Customs are very sly about resealing things. Sometimes it can be really hard to notice.

A lot of my older gear gets opened up. They must look at it and think 'nobody could possibly want this, it's got to be dodgy!'. I wouldn't be suprised if your Veccy was being checked over for that. To them it would look like a very old TV being shipped to Ireland. Why would someone in Ireland possibly want an old tv shipped from Holland?

I think I told you but my Amiga had a load of cushioned bags underneath it. They were filled with shredded paper and cardboard. The texture of them was a bit weird.

The box had been opened up by customs (I noticed a slice along the bottom) and a load of the bags had poke holes in them. They must have looked like bags of something dodgy on the scanner.

The most blatant was my 32X. It was delivered in a transparent customs bag. The original packaging was in there too, but it was shredded. I had a feeling the saw it, went 'OMFG! IT'S A BOMB!' and tore into the pack.

yeah and it turns out is was just "DA BOMB"

My first big item was torn open by cutoms, 2 segs and a crap tone of games, the menacer was in there too so i think that why they might have torn it open.

I wonder if customs knows theres an uber cool retro community in Ireland? :p

I can see it now, a bunch of stoned dutch customs workers, standing around one of their number while he plays Minestorm, all going "Dude" and "Sweeeet" at random intervals!

    "Dats a gooda pota" (Italian)

Keep your hands off Robo Stoners I'm gonna patent it as a new space shooter like Radient Silvergun meets Sly Stalone in a winner takes all battle through space and time;)

I think your main difficulty there would be finding a Super Scope in Libya that hasn't been converted to fire live ammunition :pac:

Received the following in the post today along with an LED enhanced NES controller (Nintendo sign on controller lights up when you plug it in).

    Major WIN.

Trog and Galaxy 5000 are fairly hard to come by.

Won two copies of t2 if anyone wants to swap a copy for something.

disappointed that lifeforce has marker written on it. Anyone suggest a good way to clean it off without damaging or scuffing the game too much. I already have a gamebit ordered to take all the games apart and clean them. Lifeforce is in especially bad shape. the connector looks positively yellow.

Careful ordering Super Scopes and Menacers through the post, before you know it you'll have black choppers out side your bedroom window and an all expenses paid holiday in an off the grid prison of their choice, plus the opportunity to be urinated on by US hired mercenary groups, which is nice, like to see that one on Winning Streak!

If there's one thing I know a lot about, it's importing firearm shaped objects through Irish customs. You're all grand...for the moment :P

WD-40 works pretty good taking marker off the cart, but I wouldn't use it for anything else on the cart.

May have a game or two to trade, will have a look later..

Just got a delivery from UPS, a Saturn with no plug or rf lead. It did come with what looks like a Mega Drive plug, but it's centre positive and the plug with my mega drive is centre neg. Other than that though there's literally no difference. Is it form a mega drive 2 meybe?

    Anyway, pics:

If the power adapter fits in the back of the saturn then it should work.

The next step is to get a scart cable. 2D games look glorious in RGB on the Saturn.

Next step get an action replay 4 in 1. The US and PAL releases on the saturn are mostly absolutely terrible. You'll need to be able to play the Jap releases or there's no point owning a saturn.

Next get the saturn chipped. All the best games are stupidly expensive unfortunately and some are just nigh on impossible to find.

And lastly if that's a PAL unit then a 50/60hz switch is absolutely essential.

Scart is on the way already, the plan is to do the rest at some stage, hopefully in the new year. I've still never played Panzer Dragoon Saga, to my eternal shame, so this is the first step to finally getting around to it :p

This Saturn just takes a regular ps2/hi-fi style plug, I was able to check it powered on with one. There's nowhere for the plug I got to go. It's all a bit mysterious really, I'd email the seller and ask, but then they might want me to post it back and I don't want the hassle

Sorry mine takes a 'PS2' plug as well, I was thinking about the A/V port. You'll definitely need a chipped saturn to play PDS, I'm very very lucky to own a copy of it. It's worth it though. Really was a great experience finding out all the hidden gems on the saturn when I got it but unfortunately the site saturntorrents that I got everything from and had a great community is gone. Such a good console but you need access to the japanese library.

    Cool,

I'd be interested in trading as i'm literally starting a new with my collection so have very few carts. I'm basically just stalking ebay on the daily :)
