How would make a better TD for Louth, Gerry Adams or Michael McDowell?

    Since Adams is going to parachute himself in to stand for Louth, is it not time for another candidate to stand?

    Who would make a better TD for Louth, Gerry Adams or Michael McDowell?

    I reckon McDowell will go on the warpath against FF for what they did to him when he was in government. I'd get him in just to see what he does. Adams is a good politician but has too much history that people won't forget too easily.

    McDowell has some integrity and wouldn't support the gombeens in FF. I have a bit of respect for the man to be honest. He could have just kept his mouth shut and collected his overly generous paycheck but decided it wasn't worth it.

    Also regarding the "parachute" comment, Adams announced he is moving to Louth in the next few weeks so by the time he runs for the Dáil he will have been a resident there for a fair bit.

    Wouldn't support McDowell on many policy issues but he is brilliant up against Adams and his ilk.
