Well... you have to think long term. Is 18 million minus friend+family millions enough to go around jetsetting forever? What if I've bought a house as well? 3.5% interest on 9-10mill is high enough but still!
Will I be horribly bored and feel useless and eventually depressed not having something constructive to work on?

    Serious answer.

1 Million plus house plus car for each parent.

Open up some sort of trust fund for half brother and sister, 500k each, cant access till 21 or completes college/uni.

1 million to Irish Cancer Society

Build my own home, nothing too crazy, 3 or 4 bedrooms, huge kitchen and entertainment room with all the gadgets, double garage.

Holiday flat/apartment close to a ski resort.

Couple of cars, again nothing crazy, maybe an SUV and a supermini.

About 7 or 8 k on bikes, a full carbon road bike, a full susser XC bike, another XC bike for mucking about on, and maybe a BMX.

Start own business. Record store, all your usual stuff, CDs and chart for the kids. Plus vinyl, rareities and hard to get, stage to promote local bands, instruments, etc.

    Thats about it for now.

    Then i wake up.

(have thought about this before :D)

How much would you actually win ? €18,000,002.56 ?

It's about €17,000,000 more than I'd ever possibly need, so I'd have to give it a lot of thought.

I'd also be damn careful re the tax thresholds for gifts - AFAIK it's around €350,000 for family members - so anything I'd give the family members would have to be below that so that Lenihan didn't get his grubby hands on it......althought that has me wondering whether I could give a family of 5 €350,000 each....that might solve that problem.

So that's approx €8,000,000 accounted for......what I'd do with the remaining €10,000,000 would be a complete mystery.

Then I'd work for charity or an open-source project, as well as maybe setting up a home studio for €200,000 and "work" from home.

I always said that if I had won that €115,000,000 your one Dolores did, I'd give away €100m of it. And even that sounds selfish. What a sickening amount of money to give to one person.

I'd make out a five year plan and donate to god knows how many charities/causes/appeals and make sure first hand it was all put to good use. What an amazing job and feeling that would be.

I'd take care of my family, pay off all debts, then buy myself a house somewhere nice, build a first class training facility and start working towards the next Olympics full-time once I'd finished my degree. Go to the competitions abroad I wanted to, get the few things I'd dream about, have a second home in France or somewhere pretty and interesting and generally make the most of the luck.

Straight to Switzerland, plastic surgery, new identity and live out the rest of my days in anonymity... just to get away from it all...

That or go to Las Vegas: "18 million on black."

Mind you,i did see a house in Dublin 4 for 14million!! Even if i did win a lotto like that, still couldn't afford it.
Just had a look at that, Jebus, you'd have to spend almost as much again redecorating.

I'd give 1mill to each of my siblings, 2 mill to the parents, that's 11mill left. Buy somewhere like this to live and use the remaining 7mill to decide what to do next.

We saw our ideal house in Portugal a few years ago - would be about 350K but it would need some doing up - so that would be on the list. Would hope that my daddy would move over with us (it has several out houses and one could be wheelchair adapted for mummy), would get mummy a full time carer so that my daddy could enjoy his old age. Would retire with my husband and enjoy being a full time mummy - would have 3 children in total if we were lucky.

Would get my mother in law access to the best cancer specialists in the world.

Would get my brother a nice house.

Would get me a mini-volvo and learn to drive (finally). Would get my husband whetever he wants though I know that we both would love a peaceful quiet life. Might go to Paris for a trip. My big extravagence wold be to interail around Europe with my family for a few months.

Would donate a lot of money to charities and would volenteer with some of them.

There are a lot of things that money can not buy - my son, my husband, my unborn baby - would love for all of us to be well and happy beyond everything.

€18million is really not a lot of money, I'd probably risk it in a high yield fund.

I'd pay to put my sister through college, and then match whatever salary she earns once she's out.

Pay off my parents' mortgage, buy them two holiday homes, one somewhere warm (for my mother), and one somewhere cold (for my father).

Pay for my old sports club to go train and maybe compete somewhere exotic for some length of time.

Stick about 5 million in various accounts and spend the rest of my life travelling in luxury on the interest.

Invest speculatively with another couple million.

A few million in change left over to buy stuff like chocolate muffins and maybe even an inflatable chair.

I'd buy this gem in Castlebar for €15m and spend the rest on chocolate.

Hire a private jet, limo and maid.
    Couple of huge bouncers too.
Buy a ghost estate and pay a team of Swats to clear out the scumbag element by way of smoke bombing.
Buy the largest house on the hill and do it up like the Adam's Family.
Buy a tank controled by remote access to act as a burgular deterent.
Give monies to family on conditions that they:
    -Stop smoking
-Give themselves over to the Allied Athiest Alliance
-Complete a series of dares and challenges.

I'd buy a holiday home in Tokyo.

Go on a massive shopping spree.
    Get lots of tattoos/piercings.
Give 1m to a panda charity and a cancer charity.
    save 1m in my account.

i'd sit on a 9 inch dildo and **** myself dry for as long as possible

then i'd go to vegas. i'd bring maybe 20-30 grand go on a booze fuelled hooker banging spree while leaving the rest in a bank account that I couldnt touch until I got home. at which point i'd start to give soem serious thought as to how best to invest it
