You do realise that FF's supporters were John and Jane Public? They didn't get re-elected repeatedly by a circle of a few hundred developers and bankers.

    Sadly this is true!!!!

I can't figure how or why so many people vote for them!

It could be a bit of "Well he fixed the pot holes on my roads" so I will vote the local FF politician back in & FF families that always voted FF and will never change.

    .
i asked a few older member's of my local (the local over 60's group) why they were voting for Fianna Fail at every election, their response was

"if you could remember what FG did to us the brief time they were in power you'd be glad to have FF in"

in my opinion it will be 1982 all over again tbh

this is why i'm going independent :D

Well I was 2 in 1982, so can't say I remember that, as far as I remember, the 80's were fecking class!!!

Can't wait until the next time someone comes in and says:

"Oh my God FF have X votes now!! shockedface shockedface shockedface".

    Get over it.

I'm no FG fan but that right there is whats wrong in this country.
How has 1982 got anything to do with the present? The early 80's were the last significant economic downturn the country faced, times got tough just like they are now and just like now people will criticise the guys in power.

I don't necessarily think Enda Kenny and co. are the guys to put this country right, a stronger leader of FG might be enough to shift my mind. All that aside, care to explain how Garret Fitzgerald has anything to do with the current global economic crisis? No? Thats what I thought.

Maybe in 2038 we will be looking back saying I'd never vote FF again (NOT THAT I EVER DID OR WILL) after what they did to the country in 2010!!!

Im just looking forward to Fianna Fails manifesto. What are they going to run on?

"Fianna Fail - A vote for us is a vote for incompetance"

"Fianna Fail - Just pass the lube and bend over"

Sinn Fein easily, the other 4 are a disgrace at this point in time.

I wouldnt be surprised to see the Green party absolve like the PDs. Gerry Adams should stand for election, he may make Taoiseach yet. Less surprising things have happened.

    One can only hope!

I'd love to see them gone!!!

That John Gromley angers me so much when I hear him speak on the TV or Radio, Can't stand the man.

If you're not voting against them you're voting for them. We don't live in a democracy we do live in a republic. For every knob misguided voter who votes independent, claiming they're anti FF needs to remind themselves who carries the balance of power and chooses (every time) to put FF into government.

So I say again, if you're not voting against them you're voting for them

I reckon the next one will be a ff labour coalition . . .

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,438 ✭✭✭TwoShedsJackson

I really doubht Labour would go into Govt. with FF.
And FF would never go into govt. with Labour.

Well thats bollocks anyway, FF have two priorities, like any other political party:

    1. Get into power.

    2. Stay in power.

If they had to form a coalition with the Khmer Rouge, the SS, and some reincarnation of the PDs to get/stay in power, they'd do it.

I'd love to go into the voting station, give Fianna Fáil my Number 1 and go outside, telling the press who I voted for. I'd then wear a FF shirt and sticker, and go around town telling everyone that I voted FF.

I'd also have this expression on my face.

Woohooo, we might as well establish a 2nd republic now and call it the 'Socialist Republic of Ireland'.

    Communism ftw!!!
