When I was 5 or 6 my cousin pushed me off a wall. I wasn't able to walk so folks took me to the our local Doc.
'Ah she's looking for attention', he says, 'nothing wrong with her at all'.. I actually remember thinking, you dozy fucker...
They took me to hospital the next day - my leg was broken in 2 places..
He was struck off not long after - chronic alcoholic apparently.

Doctor to my mam, your son is not deaf. Don't worry about it. Aye 20 odd years later and I'm "still not" deaf.

Went to the Doctor with a cough, I was asked to take off my jumper to be examined with the stethoscope. Then my t-shirt and also my bra. I though this was a bit wierd as have been to the doctor before with a cough but it got wierder when the doctor said " ah sure look you have your bra off now I might as well give you an exam on those aswell"

    It lasted waaaaaaaaaay too long
    Exactly what happened to me...

I dunno. I like it when a doctor is thorough.

Same kinda thing happened to me. Was about 10 or 11 and fell and really hurt my arm. Eventually persuaded my parents to bring me to Crumlin Hospital where a doctor told me it was a slight sprain and to basically stop moaning. While i was waiting for him to get the paperwork in order, another doctor was passing by and happened to ask how did i break my arm. Told her what the other doc had said, at which point she went over and tore strips out of him and told him to get my off to x ray. Had broken my arm in two places. It was bad enough my parents hadn't believed me in the 1st place, but i was rightly pissed off when that doctor wouldn't. Thank fcuk for the sensible one.

    What?

He was trying to maintain that I was a healthy hearing boy when clearly I was not responding to his tests, so in fact I'm deaf and he was stating otherwise.

My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek as it was another doctor who finally diagnosed the tumour and a wonderful surgeon who removed it.

A doctor once prescribed be penicillin when my file clearly stated I was allergic to it.

    I almost died.

I don't go to hospitals or doctors now unless I am dying.

A Number of years ago I attended my local doc with a nasty fever, he prescribed me on certain meds, after a few days it got worse and I broke out in nasty sores, I decided to get a second opinion from a specialist consultant at Blackrock Clinic who diagnosed that I was allergic to penicillin.

I've always had very sensitive skin, and went to the campus clinic after getting a horrible rash on my arm.

The doctor took one look and said "Oh, we usually only see that kind of thing in elderly people and young people with AIDS'. She then sent me off to do a blood test, and gave me a prescription for topical cream, Unfortunately I was too hysterical to notice that the box for the cream had in big letters on the side "DO NOT USE ON BROKEN OR IRRITATED SKIN", so in addition to thinking I would be dead in two years, my arm felt like it was on fire. Luckily my roommate had more sense than I did, and pointed to the obvious spider bite on my arm while binning the cream.

I never went back to university health services.

I lived in France and was having some fanny issues. It wasn't the doctor's fault or anything, but I had to get naked from the waist down (which always emphasises just how naked you are) while a doctor that looked like me da and a young lad shoved a camera up ma vadge. I cried and cried and didn't speak French well enough to explain I was just frightened.

Everytime I go to a doctor it gets worse.

When I was a kid, broke my arm in two places. Bad enough the parents thought I was overreacting for a whole 24 hours before I went to hospital. Then the first doctor tried to tell me it was not broken and the second put the cast on too tight it had to be redone a few days later when my fingers were feeling funny...

Then xmas eve on my leaving cert year, serious pains in my side. Went to hospital 4am and took five doctors to get a vein and then 36 hours for them to stop thinking I was "looking for attention" and figure out I needed emergency surgery. An xmas day I will never forget. Or the subsequent check up I had 6 weeks later telling me they didn't find any cancerous cells. Thanks for telling me there was a possibility.

Lastly, couple years ago went to college doctor cause I'd never felt so weak/sick in my life. Told me I was probably just burnt out from rag week (despite my protests of a relatively quiet week) and had a bit of a throat infection and wrote me a doc note for two days. Glandular fever apparently, out a month of college.

I had to go to the doctor last week. Pretty cute GP for a change..
She took one look at me and said "Ok, I think you need to stop masturbating"
    "Why?" I exclaimed...
"because I am trying to examine you!" says she...

When I was 7 I was very very sick over the christmas holidays. Couldnt keep anything down not even water. Mother took me to the doctor but there was a new guy in as a replacement, he examined me and told my mother that there was nothing much wrong with me at all and that I was just looking for attention.

Stayed the same for the next two days then my mother brought me to another doctor, I was promptly rushed to the hospital for serious dehydration and spent the next two weeks in hospital. Apparently I had like 10 different viruses at once.

What kind of kid fakes it during the christmas holidsys ffs!

Oh just remembered that same doctor was the only doctor on call the night my granaunt had a heart attack. Rang him up and he said he couldnt come out because he had a cold.

Pregnant during Christmas, a doctor decided to induce me 3 weeks early as I had "Itchy Moms"...4 days of labour, in hospital all over Christmas only to be told on Christmas eve by the consultant that I shouldnt have been induced at all but now that they have started theres no going back.

Jeez thanks lads, really really wanted to be in hospital over Christmas by accident.

Made me realise that doctors are only human too and to question everything throughly!

Got an x-ray on my shoulder and looked at it with the doctor. I could see that my collarbone was floating an inch higher than the other one. He could see bruises. Got second opinion, severed ligament and the shoulder is damaged for life. Ape:mad:

Had an ear infection for a year and a half. Got prescribed antibiotics 3 times even though they never worked and I told her that I didn't really see the point.

After four or five appointments relating to the same infection at 55 euro a pop (when I was earning below minimum wage but not entitled to a medical card) I asked to be referred to an ear specialist because it was driving me crazy at that stage. She refused, saying that wouldn't make any difference. Her quote was "I have patients who have had chronic ear infections for years, you just have to get used to it". Never went back to her again.
