Didn't really feel like running tonight, starting to feel the short ones are a bit of a pain, I think the niggles go after 4/5 miles so it seems like I'm carrying them throughout the run.

I ran 4 miles at 9 min mile pace and suddenly felt very strong, my stride was really smooth and solid so I pushed on at a 7:40 pace for 1/2 mile expecting to fade a little as I went on but I felt stronger - it was fantastic, I used my arms to drive forward and ran my last half mile at 7:21 pace.

If I was only running one mile I could have run like the wind.

JEmily rang me during the first mile to discuss marathon pacing, I looked like a tulip running along with the phone to my ear - thanks boss!

I can relate to that feeling. Almost feels like it's not worth going out for just 5 miles... But these are the bread and butter of a marathon runner and will be important over the next few weeks of final preparation - just try to keep the final goal in mind during these and you'll have no bother with them!

8 miles done in 1:06:27, It was my first time taking music with me and boy am I glad I did, starting with Sweet Child O Mine had me at a quick enough pace to begin with and at mile 4 I decided to put Voodoo People on loop and charged through the rest of my run.

    All in all, I'm a happy camper.:D

Was sad not to have been able to meet up with the gang this morning but Mrs Slow was unwell so I had to wait until the afternoon to get going, to save time I ran 5 miles to the park, ran two inside and 5 home all done in 1:52:27 (I broke all the rules and picked up the pace for the last 4 miles)

Anyone else in turmoil about the race, I'm losin my mind here.

Sports massage on Wednesday, the inexperienced runner in me had hoped for scented candles and aromatherapy oils to match up with the massage part of the description, but when Xebec told me to take a few days off afterwards to 'let the swelling go down' I knew it was gonna sting:(:(:(:(

You're far from the only one. Trust me though - once you toe the startline on October 25 you will be fine. :)

There's a very good reason why I suggested that the first week of taper was a good time to go for a sports massage :pac: It will have been beneficial though, in terms of loosening everything out a bit and getting you ready to race.

What're you in turmoil about?! All the hard work is done, now take it easy and make sure the body is ready. As for the mind, that's going to be doing loops for the next two weeks, just try to keep calm and start focusing on the race itself and how well you're going to do!

So......I was supposed to run 4 tomorrow and decided to get the 6 'out of the way' today, I took off too fast and as I was going decided to stay with it. I said as I was doing 6 I may aswell do 10K and ran a route with a couple of big hills just for kicks.

I ran the Dunshaughlin 10K in 54:07 back in June and tonight after running 12 yesterday faster than LSR pace, I finished up with 6.25 miles in 48:30! :D

Good running......Was about to warn you about falling into the trap of running too fast during taper but thought better of it seeing as all my runs last week were sub pmp ;)

Nice running mrslow! (you've got to change that name). I think you should be aiming for well under the 4 hr mark. You're flying.

No problem, i'll send on the bill.:D

As for issues, you'll have issues on the day itself, millions of small ones and everyone will have them but don't let that worry you. Its the norm. Remember its a race and you'll be probably nervous anyway.

The hanging around at the start is the worse bit i always find. Just stick to your plan whatever it is and once you're running, you'll feel much better.

No one ever trains for the hanging around and its impossible to avoid hearing what someone behind you says about gels/water/toilets/vaseline/pace etc and not having a worry or two that your plan is wrong. Everyone is different, hence everyone's plan is different.
