He doesn't have hands. He has noodely appendages. If your going to criticise someones religion at least get your facts straight.;)

I know you're trying hard to defend your Pope, but that really takes the biscuit sir.

    edit:

Oh wait, now you're backpedaling? lol, which is it. You either disagree with the RCC leadership or you think being a Nazi was just a case of "Boys will be boys and commit acts of genocide"

I'm not defending the pope. The suggestion that he participated in acts of genocide though is a touch dramatic isn't it. If you can show me that he was involved in mass murder I'd love to see it. As I mentioned earlier I doubt the fact that he was involved in this is something that he is particularly proud of but I feel it is overblown.

The most sensible approach would be to avoid baptising your child and allow them to opt in or out when they grow up as they can make an informed choice if they want to choose catholicism

Unfortunately, the vast majority of schools in this country remain in their hands. Therefore, if you want to have as much choice as possible as to what school your kids attend, it's best to dunk their heads in the water and go for dinner and a few drinks afterwards.

Until they are removed from power, they will continue to have power.

If you don't feel like being Catholic then just say your not Catholic. A piece of paper recorded on a historical document should not determine your faith, if any at all.

GOd the anti-Catholic Spaghetti monster claptrap is tiresome.

    AH needs a new theme.

My point is that Roman Catholics dont have to justify their belief in their religion to anyone.

No right minded catholic can make excuses for the way their church is run or the scandals they've caused but at the same time their faith doesnt deserve to be demeaned in the way that some people here have tried to.

Pfsh. The Catholic Church can fuck off, tbh. I was baptised a Catholic, but I renounced it a few years ago. Don't go to church. Don't observe their holidays. And before Christmas is brought up, I only observe the commercialism of the holiday. The church has so little impact on my day to day life, they can claim I'm part of their 'flock,' but all that matters is that I know I'm not. This has no bearing on my life.

Nobody has said otherwise here. What are you reading

If it's been demeaned, its self-demeaning, when you factor in that the RCC wants to install their own laws which basically say you cannot leave the church ever.

So I guess in an abstract way, yes. This would make me question whether someone included on any sort of church-provided census data was actually a Catholic Catholic, and not someone who was Baptised when they were an infant and grew up to be an Atheist. However I'm oblivious to why you think this is a thread about validating/invalidating your Catholic beliefs? It's not.

Ireland has been totally taken over by a fundamentalist protestant atheism. Apparantly.

What Pope killed what protestants in 1600? What utter ahistorical claptrap are you talking about?

Yes he is. He lies about condoms, leads to deaths and doesn't give a f*ck either. He is an evil man who we should all be fighting againist for liberty and freedom.

You mean http://countmeout.ie, the very same web forum that the article in the OP of this thread categorically states has been suspended in lieu of changes to Canon Law in the RCC? And it's now in question if ANY of the 12,000 people who used the form have actually been removed from the Catholic register?

Did you read the thread at all or just dive in with a Hail Mary?

I can understand the criticism of not being able to defect if one chooses. However, what is one supposed to think when this level of criticism is aimed at something.

The amount of claptrap spread about AIDS in Africa tantamount to a Goebbels like BIG LIE.

The actual people who invaded South Africa - our bloodthirsty neighbours - actually come up with the nonsense. AIDS in Africa predominates in Protesant British Africa. Look it up. Catholicism is less prevalent in South Africa - the larges population of AIDS vitims in the world - than protestantism in SOuth America.

I blame the Queen. And the Anglicans.

Anglicans and Genocide in Africa. More reason to hate the ArchBishop of Canterbury.

tbh excommunication sounds more bad-ass than defection anyway. All you have to do is kick a Bishop in the arse

Lying about condoms isnt genocide. That's a hell of a leap.

I find it discouraging that you can't differentiate between a discussion about Canon Law and the Vatican, Pope, etc. and whether or note we were having a discussion that challenged Substantiation, the Resurrection, Creationism, etc.
