Nope! Takes balls to go out on the track in something as small and probably rusted to hell as that.

A nice SLC "loading" outside Saba in town (Dublin). Those alloys are a bitch to keep clean and make the car look rough when dirty. Nice colour too, but a crap reg plate.

Well, it's only a 450SLC according to mywheels, but then, it could be the VRO, that just didn't get it right :)

Shoot me if i'm wrong, but this particular model never came with a 5 litre engine did it? I always thought that the 450 was the biggest of the SLCs.

There was a 5.0 SLC but it wasn't badged 500 SLC, It was known as the 450 SLC 5.0 , and had aluminium doors, bonnet and boot, and a rear spoiler

.......actually they were badged 500SLC for just 1 year, 1981. There were two different 5.0 engines also, no parts are interchangeable, the later engine lived on in the 500SL W107.

The 450SLC 5.0 is an alloy engine AFAIK and unique in that it was never used in another Merc.

Why was this, must hav cost a fair few quid to develop this engine, bit of a waste to use it in the one car?

.....the 450SLC was homologated and developed as a competition car, but during its development the decided they needed more power and less weight, so the all alloy engine was built. It had different bore and stroke than any of the other V8's.

At the same time a more docile and user friendly ( more low end torque) 5.0 engine was developed for the replacement for the the 450SLC. This unit had lower production costs and shared parts with the new 380SLC engine, which itself replaced the 350SLC

If its badged as a 500slc then I take it must be a 1981 model.
So how come its on a ZV plate? ZV's being for 30yrs or older models.

Here are a few Peugeots I came across today, he's asking 500 euros each but will haggle if anyone's interested, all drove in there but don't know if they're going now or not.

It's registered as a 1980. Remember model years do not necessarily correspond to year of manufacture/first registration - MY1981 may have been September 1980 or earlier for this car (I don't know how Mercedes do theirs).
